Yutong’s hydrogen fuel heavy-duty truck completes a 1500-kilometer trial run across six provinces and cities successfully for the first time!

On April 9, 2024, at 10 a.m., two Yutong hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks departed from Qingyundian Oil-Hydrogen Co-Building Station in Daxing District, Beijing. They arrived at Qingwei Oil-Hydrogen Co-Building Station in Qingpu District, Shanghai, on April 11 at 3 p.m., covering a total distance of about 1500 kilometers across six provinces and cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Shanghai. This successful completion marked the first large-scale, long-distance, cross-regional transportation test of hydrogen-powered vehicles in China!

The vehicles responsible for this test were two 49-ton Yutong hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks equipped with a 180kW high-power fuel cell system, providing a range of up to 600 kilometers. This means that without refueling, Yutong hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks can meet most of the long-distance transportation needs, significantly reducing time and economic costs during transportation.

As the pioneering vehicle in the Beijing-Shanghai hydrogen corridor exploration, the Yutong hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks involved in this test lead the industry in key indicators such as reliability, environmental adaptability, design service life, and hydrogen consumption per hundred kilometers. They fully meet the stringent requirements for vehicles in long-haul transportation scenarios.

Yutong has been researching fuel cell technology since 2009, obtained the first domestic fuel cell commercial vehicle qualification certification in 2015, and built the first hydrogen refueling station in the Central Plains region. After years of research and development, Yutong has developed a full range of fuel cell commercial vehicle products, known for short refueling time, long driving range, long service life, economic efficiency, good adaptability in low-temperature environments, and safety and reliability, leading in the global market in terms of production and sales.

As of the end of 2023, Yutong has deployed more than 2300 fuel cell commercial vehicles, conducted batch demonstration operations nationwide in cities such as Zhengzhou, Beijing, Zhangjiakou, Nanjing, Tangshan, Weifang, Zhangjiagang, and Laibin, accumulated over 100 million kilometers of safe operation, and maintained a leading position in terms of economic efficiency and product competitiveness. Yutong’s fuel cell heavy-duty trucks achieved sales of 831 units in 2023, securing a market share of 23.01% and becoming the sales champion.

The successful test of Yutong’s hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks not only demonstrates the potential application of hydrogen energy technology in long-distance transportation but also injects a strong impetus into the development of the hydrogen energy industry in China and globally.
