On April 11th, the “Gather Momentum for a New Journey, Innovate to Steer the Future – Launch Conference of BYD’s Full Range of Heavy – Duty Truck Products” was held in Chengdu. Pure – electric tractors, dump trucks, and mixer trucks were officially launched. In this release, BYD Commercial Vehicles introduced a full – scenario new – energy heavy – duty truck solution. By continuously integrating the independent capabilities of the vertical industry chain, it promotes the low – carbon transformation of the industry.

In 2024, the total sales volume of new – energy heavy – duty trucks in China reached 82,723 units, with a market penetration rate of over 13%, showing a high – speed development trend. However, industry problems such as product homogenization, cut – throat competition, and high purchase costs have become more prominent. Tian Chunlong, General Manager of BYD’s Commercial Vehicle Division, said that BYD has rich operation capabilities and experience at home and abroad. It reconstructs product value with technology. The full range of heavy – duty truck products launched this time aims at industry pain points and creates a full – stack overall solution from aspects such as technological breakthroughs and ecological co – construction, creating full – life – cycle value for customers.
BYD Tractor Q3: Focusing on Short – Haul Transportation and Breaking Through Medium – and Long – Haul Transportation
For the short – haul transportation scenario, the new Q3 series is available in multiple battery capacity versions, such as 282kWh, 382kWh, and 452kWh, making it the preferred model for short – haul transportation in ports, coal – fired power plants, steel mills, and other fields. At the same time, the vehicle also offers battery capacity versions such as 573kWh and 637kWh, which are precisely matched to medium – and long – haul transportation scenarios like inter – city and dedicated – line logistics with a distance of 350 – 400 km.

In terms of power batteries and charging, the vehicle uses Blade Batteries and has a four – gun charging system. It supports charging methods from single – gun, double – gun to four – gun, making charging more efficient and flexible. It can support a maximum charging current of 1000A and a charging power of 600kW. The charging time from 20% to 80% is within 40 minutes, enabling efficient charging.

With its super – strong power performance and energy consumption management, the Q3 has the transportation ability for all scenarios. The vehicle offers two different power options: central drive and integrated drive. Its maximum power is as high as 520kW (260kW×2), the motor efficiency is 98%, the feedback torque reaches 100%, and the maximum climbing ability is 30%. It is equipped with BYD’s self – developed chip and a six – in – one high – voltage electric control system, with a maximum efficiency of 99%. Equipped with low – rolling – resistance tires and lightweight rims, its drag coefficient is reduced by 19% and the rolling resistance coefficient is reduced by 20%. The energy consumption under CHTC comprehensive road conditions is as low as 1.23kWh/km. It has five – level energy feedback, with a maximum feedback energy of 520kW.

In terms of safety management and assisted driving, it is equipped with 9 configurations that users care about as standard, such as hill – start assist, cruise control, and anti – misstep throttle protection.
Defined by scenarios, the BYD Q3 will continue to be upgraded, aiming to provide safer, more efficient, and more comfortable products to help customers operate efficiently and earn money easily.
New Energy Special – Purpose Vehicle Matrix: Safe and Efficient, Focusing on Construction Transportation Scenarios
For construction logistics scenarios such as urban construction, engineering operations, and mine transportation, BYD grandly launched new new – energy dump trucks, mixer trucks, and other special – purpose vehicle products. A total of ten products, including 6×4 and 8×4 special – purpose vehicles, were developed for various scenarios, aiming to provide users with special – purpose vehicle products that are extremely safe, efficient, and cost – effective.

Safety is the top priority for electric vehicles. These new – energy special – purpose vehicles are equipped with Blade Batteries used in passenger cars. While implementing safe electricity – using strategies, they are also equipped with intelligent configurations such as blind – spot monitoring, driver – state monitoring, and 360 – degree panoramic imaging to comprehensively protect driving safety.
In terms of efficiency, the special – purpose vehicles are matched with high – power motors with a maximum of 585 horsepower and a maximum torque of 130,000 N·m. Their maximum climbing ability under heavy load is greater than 43%. The full – scenario dual – gun charging can reach a maximum charging power of 600A, and it is compatible with more than 200 charging pile models, enabling efficient charging. The battery pack has a super – strong waterproof design and can remain water – free after being continuously immersed for 10 days. The maximum wading depth of the whole vehicle is 1.2 meters, higher than the upper wing surface of the frame. It can operate efficiently in all weather conditions, becoming a “great helper” for users.

In terms of cost – saving and consumption reduction, the vehicles are equipped with high – efficiency motor electric controls. The maximum motor efficiency can reach 97%, and the maximum electric control efficiency can reach 99%. Through optimal torque distribution, the comprehensive working condition efficiency is increased by 1%. It adopts a large – capacity electric braking feedback design, with a 50% increase in reverse – drag torque capacity. By using direct – drive superstructure components, the weight is reduced by 150 kg, and the failure rate is reduced by 28. During operation, the discharge residue rate is less than 5%, and the energy consumption is reduced by 65%, with extremely high operation efficiency. According to actual calculations, BYD dump trucks can achieve full – attendance and high – reliability through high – power and fast – charging. Compared with similar products, users can earn an additional 102,000 yuan per vehicle per year.
