Volvo Trucks recently announced reaching an important milestone – it has delivered over 5,000 pure electric trucks to customers in 50 countries around the world. Currently, Volvo has 8 models of electric trucks in production, further consolidating its leading position in the field of electric trucks.

Since the launch of its first electric truck in 2019, Volvo electric trucks have achieved commercial operation in 50 countries globally, with the cumulative driving mileage exceeding 170 million kilometers. The widespread application of Volvo electric trucks not only significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions and road noise but also greatly improves and optimizes the working environment of drivers through their quiet and smooth driving characteristics.

“We are greatly encouraged to see that transportation enterprises continue to actively adopt electric trucks in diverse transportation scenarios and fully benefit from their advantages,” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks globally. “Our pure electric solutions have been applied on a large scale, providing customers with transportation options that combine commercial value and greater sustainability. Many customers have also made repeat purchases from us to expand their electric truck fleets.”

The product matrix of Volvo electric trucks now covers multiple scenarios such as urban and intercity distribution, construction projects, and garbage collection. Its top five electric truck markets are Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Norway, and Sweden in order.
Accumulation of Electrification Technology
As a pioneer in the field of electric trucks, Volvo has accumulated unique expertise in zero-emission electric transportation. The advantages of electric trucks are not only reflected in environmental protection – drivers can also clearly feel that their working environment has been greatly improved, with significantly reduced noise and vibration. In addition, Volvo has also accumulated rich professional capabilities in optimizing the use of renewable energy, formulating financial policies for electric trucks, and providing charging, maintenance, and repair services.

Three-Pronged Approach to Promote Net-Zero Emissions
Volvo Trucks adopts a three-pronged technology strategy to drive the decarbonization process of the logistics and transportation industry, aiming to achieve the goal of net-zero emissions by 2040. This strategy is based on three technical paths: pure electric, fuel cell electric, and internal combustion engine technology using renewable fuels. Renewable fuels include green hydrogen (produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using renewable electricity), biomethane (liquefied biogas), biodiesel, and hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO).
