On November 15th, the 2024 Guangzhou International Commercial Vehicle Exhibition opened at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Pazhou, Guangzhou. The event saw the global debut of 16 vehicles and 16 domestic first launches, showcasing cutting-edge industry innovations such as ultra-fast charging, autonomous driving, and refrigerated electric cooling systems.
This year’s exhibition, themed “High-End, Intelligent, Green,” emphasizes “Innovation Leadership” and “Technological Empowerment.” By showcasing innovative technologies, new energy vehicles, intelligent vehicles, components, application scenarios, and operational models, the exhibition aims to create a new image for Chinese commercial vehicles as “high-tech” and “international,” presenting the new vision of high-quality development in China’s commercial vehicle industry.
For the first time in its government work report this year, China has included “accelerating the development of new-quality productive forces” to signal a shift toward high-quality development centered on new productive forces. Over the past few years, the commercial vehicle industry has accelerated its technological upgrades, with rapid growth in new energy adoption, a surge in overseas markets, and a focus on green, low-carbon, and sustainable development. These trends are reflected in the current exhibition.
The exhibition features a wide range of vehicles, including semi-trailers, three-axle box trucks, refrigerated trucks, mixer trucks, dump trucks, as well as off-road vehicles, RVs, camping vehicles, and even explosion-proof vehicles. Elements like intelligence, new energy, National VIb standards, and lightweight designs are all showcased, highlighting China’s commercial vehicle industry’s ability to achieve high-quality development and meet new demands through innovation.
Technological innovation has not only improved the competitiveness of the industry but also laid a strong foundation and provided momentum for the development of new-quality productive forces. At this exhibition, new energy continues to be the “main attraction,” with a concentrated display of electric, hydrogen engine, fuel cell, hybrid, LNG, and extended-range technologies in commercial vehicles.
Exhibitor Highlights
FAW Jiefang is showcasing 10 vehicles, including its intelligent cockpit, heavy-duty fuel-electric tractors, and LNG tractors, along with a major fuel cell vehicle display. The company has launched technical solutions addressing key user pain points such as low energy consumption, long-range capabilities, and intelligent safety.
JAC Motors focuses on new energy with five pure electric high-end intelligent light trucks on display, featuring a 14-inch smart screen, reverse radar, high-definition rearview cameras, and other intelligent configurations. JAC is leading the development and application of new technologies such as pure electric, intelligence, and connectivity.
CIMC Vehicles is exhibiting under the theme “Moving Towards ‘New,’ Creating Quality for the Future.” As a global leader in high-end semi-trailer and special vehicle manufacturing, CIMC presents a range of champion products and classics, including skeletal trailers, box trucks, liquid tankers, new energy mixer semi-trailers, and refrigerated trucks, along with innovative products like carbon steel liquid tanks, aluminum alloy methanol tanks, and future-oriented tanks, addressing various user needs across different scenarios.
Nanjing Iveco, with the theme “Thunder of the Mountains and Seas, Off-Roading Beyond Limits,” is launching its large-space, true off-road, all-terrain, full-time 4WD off-road vehicle series. They are also debuting the country’s first raised-roof camper, RVs, and explosion-proof vehicles, displaying a total of 11 products that highlight strong technical capabilities and outstanding product quality.
JMC (Jiangling Motors) is showcasing a variety of vehicles under the theme “With the Strivers.” Their exhibition includes RVs and light trucks, with diverse power options such as extended range, pure electric, and fuel models, all of which embody the new development trends in JMC’s smart, electric, and customized commercial vehicles.
Dongfeng Xiaokang is exhibiting five vehicles, with a highlight on their self-developed L2 autonomous driving technology and CATL’s Tianxing L ultra-fast charging battery.
Xinyuan is displaying flagship mobile exhibition vehicles and new energy sales vehicles, with a focus on the needs of niche markets. Their display includes high-end technologies and designs such as magnetic interior materials and a pure, quiet driving experience.
Bayer Cold Chain, Lean Group, Hengjieyuan Automotive, and the China Cold Chain Alliance are showcasing new refrigerated vehicle models and technologies. Innovations like the thermal storage electric refrigeration system and 220V power supply refrigeration are providing a technology feast for attendees.
Jinhu Automotive, Kaiyi Motors, Sinotruk Chengdu, and Huaxi are presenting intelligent, low-carbon, energy-saving, and lightweight products.
The exhibition will be held from November 15th to 18th, with additional events such as the release of the China Annual Truck Evaluation Results and Award Ceremony, as well as the 2024 Logistics and Transport Vehicle Summit Forum.
