In 2004, Sinotruk launched a groundbreaking model—the HOWO-7, widely known as the HOWO 7, which heralded a new era of luxury heavy-duty trucks in China. Twenty years later, in 2024, the HOWO model celebrates its 20th anniversary with the introduction of a brand-new high-end heavy-duty truck—the HOWO TS7.
3980mm Ultra-High Cab and Titan’s Eye Auxiliary High Beam
The HOWO TS7-H’s cab is a completely new design. It features an ultra-high roof structure with a vehicle height of up to 3980mm, making it the tallest heavy-duty truck under current regulations. This is thanks to its newly designed roof shape, providing an interior net height of up to 2.2 meters, allowing for free movement inside without feeling cramped and increasing the distance between upper and lower bunks.
The high roof design includes the latest “Titan’s Eye” auxiliary high beam lighting. Unlike Scania’s design, this auxiliary high beam illuminates the ground, extending the main headlights’ lighting distance to a maximum of 260 meters. This thoughtful design ensures safety by not dazzling oncoming vehicles.
Compared to most domestic heavy-duty trucks with lower auxiliary mirrors, I prefer the HOWO TS7-H’s upper auxiliary mirror layout, making blind spot observation more convenient and clear. Both the main and auxiliary mirrors are electrically adjustable and heated, greatly aiding rear visibility.
The HOWO TS7-H boasts a unique exterior design with a chrome Xuanyuan bow grille and shield-shaped panel, maintaining a traditional Chinese style. The sharp lines and layers give it a distinctive European heavy-duty truck feel, with the newly designed “HOWO” badge adding a finishing touch.
The HOWO TS7-H retains some elements from previous HOWO trucks, such as the “tusk” headlight design. The interior daytime running lights are shaped like “golden blades,” paired with full LED split matrix headlights featuring an automatic function.
The HOWO TS7-H’s cab suspension system is newly optimized with a four-point air suspension and Sachs transverse dampers, filtering road bumps and reducing lateral sway, ensuring driver comfort even on rough roads.
Ergonomic Luxury Interior with 3D Fabric Bunk
The basic version of the HOWO TS7-H’s seats includes luxurious air suspension seats with ventilation and lumbar support. Additionally, the ISRI NTS875 series seats are available as an option. The co-driver seat is foldable, creating ample storage space on the right side.
The interior excels in ergonomic design, featuring a four-spoke multifunction steering wheel with integrated controls for the instrument panel, multimedia, and cruise control. The wraparound dashboard layout ensures all functions are within easy reach, with enhanced tactile quality for rocker switches.
Comfort is also reflected in the NVH performance, with cabin noise at idle measuring just 48dB, well below industry standards. The excellent sealing not only reduces noise but also keeps out external dust, beneficial for users transporting resources or driving in dusty areas like the northwest.
The steering wheel adjustment mechanism uses pneumatic locking, a mainstream feature in high-end models, with a wide adjustment angle for a comfortable driving position.
The dashboard area is well-equipped, with a 12.3-inch LCD screen integrating Bluetooth, vehicle connectivity, navigation, and surround view functions. The HOWO TS7-H supports a 360° panoramic view to minimize blind spots.
Below are configurations for automatic climate control, Type-C fast charging, and USB ports.
The gear shift mechanism uses a rotary knob, with manual gear shifting integrated into the right stalk of the steering column, ensuring ease of operation. The rotary knob shift mechanism also reserves a slot for a future one-button start and keyless entry feature.
The featured model includes a 220V 1000W inverter under the bunk, with an option to support up to 2000W, allowing the use of high-power household appliances or cooking devices, enhancing the quality of life on the road.
For high-efficiency logistics requiring dual drivers or couples, the HOWO TS7-H offers a generous 700L of storage space, from overhead compartments to various storage bins and cup holders, accommodating all necessary items.
The rear bunk uses innovative 3D fabric material, providing excellent breathability, elasticity, and support. Its high fill thickness ensures strong mattress support for comfortable sleep.
Infinite S Powertrain, Dual-Fuel Power up to 700 Horsepower!
At the HOWO 20th anniversary event, the HOWO TS7-H was showcased with both fuel and gas power options. This year, with a focus on gas trucks, the HOWO TS7-H naturally features the industry’s strongest Weichai 4.0 gas engine.
The HOWO TS7-H can be equipped with either the WP15NG or WP17NG gas engines, with the WP15NG delivering up to 630 horsepower and 2800 Nm of torque, and the WP17NG offering up to 700 horsepower and 3200 Nm of torque. The fourth-generation Weichai large displacement gas engine increases power by 7%, improves acceleration by 20%, and enhances climbing ability by 12%, achieving maximum torque at 850 rpm.
The fuel-powered HOWO TS7-H is equipped with Weichai WP14T and MAN MC13H series engines, both capable of delivering up to 630 horsepower. These high-power engines are well-balanced in terms of power and fuel consumption, suitable for long-distance efficient logistics transportation.
The transmission options include the Sinotruk ninth-generation S-AMT16 automatic transmission, featuring an integrated modular design and a 16-speed ultra-small transmission ratio, enhancing shift smoothness and power delivery. With a B10 life of up to 2 million kilometers and a transmission efficiency of 99.8%, the HOWO TS7-H can also be equipped with the Fast Intelligent 16-speed AMT transmission, both supporting hydraulic retarders.
The rear axle matches the MAN MCY12 single-stage reduction axle with ratios of 2.71 and 2.85, optimized for high-efficiency logistics with high horsepower and low gear ratios. The HOWO TS7-H is fitted with 12R22.5 Sailun liquid gold vacuum tires, and with a smaller ratio, it can also use 295 tires.
Sinotruk prioritizes safety, using high-strength lightweight gas cylinders from Zhongji Shengdai, a leading brand not only in natural gas cylinders but also in specialized liquid air transport trailers.
The gas cylinder capacity of the showcased model is 1500L, and for higher endurance, the HOWO TS7-H can be equipped with 2x1500L cylinders, providing a maximum capacity of 3000L, supporting a range of over 3500 kilometers.
The HOWO TS7-H’s changes also include unseen aspects, such as being manufactured at Sinotruk’s excellent intelligent production line in Laiwu, meeting the highest standards. Its electrical architecture is the latest from Sinotruk, shared with high-end models like Shandeka and Huanghe, ensuring compatibility with advanced electronic features like electronic mirrors, EBS, AEBS, and electronically controlled air suspension.
