On September 24, during the opening ceremony of the 21st ASEAN Expo, the unmanned Chenglong IGV and Chenglong H5 trucks developed by Dongfeng Liuqi successfully demonstrated operations at the China-Vietnam Friendship Pass Smart Port and the Puzhai-New Qing Channel Smart Port. This event not only marks an important recognition of the intelligent driving technology of the Chenglong brand at the national level but also signifies a milestone in Dongfeng Liuqi’s contribution to the implementation of the “Belt and Road” strategy, pushing the intelligent and efficient development of border trade transport between China and ASEAN.

The Friendship Pass is located at the southwestern end of Pingxiang City, Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It serves as an important channel for political, economic, and cultural exchanges between China and Vietnam, as well as a core bridge for border trade between the two nations. This event is an important measure to promote the pilot construction of a smart port for the dedicated freight passage at the Friendship Pass, under the guidance of both governments to further strengthen comprehensive strategic cooperation and align development strategies, while implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and the “Two Corridors and One Circle” cooperation framework.

As China’s first cross-border smart port project, the China-Vietnam Smart Port project utilizes satellite navigation and 5G technology, employing unmanned container transport vehicles, automated handling equipment, and container inspection systems to complete cross-border logistics transport between China and Vietnam. With the warm care and strong support from the leadership of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the IGV and unmanned truck demonstration operation project has been successfully implemented. Once operational, this project will enable “24/7, contactless, unmanned, and intelligent” customs clearance, significantly enhancing port efficiency and cross-border resource allocation efficiency in the region.

The demonstration operations took place simultaneously at the Friendship Pass Smart Port and Puzhai Port. The Chenglong IGV and Chenglong H5 unmanned trucks successfully showcased multiple autonomous driving functions, including precise obstacle avoidance, smooth passing, pedestrian avoidance, and efficient customs clearance. Their outstanding performance and intelligent capabilities received widespread acclaim from the attending leaders and guests.

At the construction site of the Friendship Pass Smart Port, the IGV (Intelligent Guided Vehicle) developed by Dongfeng Liuqi can achieve millisecond-level response and centimeter-level accuracy through high-precision Beidou positioning, environmental perception, path planning, and vehicle-road-cloud integrated collaboration. It can receive and execute transport commands in real time, making automatic adjustments and evasive maneuvers based on the surrounding environment, thereby performing port-level transport tasks safely and efficiently. The IGV also supports all-wheel steering, allowing for diagonal and crab steering with a small turning radius for high maneuverability and flexibility. When the battery is low, it can interact with charging robots in charging areas for fully automatic charging, significantly enhancing port logistics efficiency.

At the construction site of the Puzhai-New Qing Channel Smart Port project, the Chenglong H5 unmanned trucks developed by Dongfeng Liuqi integrate inertial navigation, lidar, and camera sensor information, achieving high-precision perception and positioning across the entire area, with parking errors of less than 5 centimeters. Based on high-precision maps, the unmanned trucks dynamically plan the optimal route and conduct global scheduling management through the FMS system, reducing operational waiting time. Additionally, it supports remote control of the unmanned trucks via a 5G remote driving system, making port logistics transport more efficient and convenient.

The operation of the first batch of Chenglong IGV and Chenglong H5 unmanned trucks is not only an important achievement in the construction of the smart port for border trade logistics between China and Vietnam but also sets a new benchmark for smart port construction nationwide.
