As the penetration of new energy commercial vehicles continues to increase, the question arises: how can new energy technology help truck drivers improve transport efficiency and reduce costs? JAC Heavy Truck’s answer is the JAC Xingyao X5.
Rising Penetration Rates
New Energy Enters the Fast Lane of Development
In recent years, as commercial vehicles worldwide pursue energy transformation and seek eco-friendly, zero-carbon, and efficient transport solutions, new energy has replaced traditional fuels, accelerating industry growth.
The Chinese commercial vehicle industry has actively developed the new energy vehicle sector to meet the “dual carbon” strategy and the goal of “new quality productivity.” As of August 2024, the penetration rate of new energy commercial vehicles has reached 17%, an increase of 7.7 percentage points compared to the same period last year. The penetration rate of new energy heavy trucks is now at 10.5%. Leading traditional companies like JAC Heavy Truck are continuously transforming, bearing the responsibility of eco-friendly development and offering numerous high-quality new energy vehicle models to the market and users, navigating the vast blue ocean of new energy. This is an essential path for the Chinese commercial vehicle industry and an irreversible trend in the global transition to new energy.

The market share of new energy light trucks and light vans is steadily rising, especially in urban distribution transport scenarios. As technology matures, heavy truck users in short- and medium-distance transport sectors, such as coal and gravel, are beginning to adopt new energy vehicles. In coastal areas, even long-haul truck drivers transporting goods from ports to provinces are using fully electric vehicles, achieving substantial profitability.
Xingyao X5 Debuts
Setting the Trend for New Energy Heavy Trucks
Returning to the product itself, a high-quality product must address user pain points and resolve vehicle issues. The JAC Xingyao X5 new energy heavy truck, which spans both traditional and new energy sectors, boasts precisely these qualities and advantages.

The truck features a new low-drag cab design, coupled with an integrated thermal management system and high-performance electric drive axle, maintaining a comprehensive energy consumption of 141 kWh per 100 kilometers, a top-tier performance in China. With a 600V fast-swap battery system, a single swap provides a range of up to 300 km, ideal for intraprovincial or suburban freight trips.

The truck also offers both power and economy. With a full load of 49 tons, it can sustain a maximum speed of 111 km/h over 30 minutes and achieve a maximum gradeability of 30%, allowing efficient operation even in mountainous regions with powerful performance. In terms of economy, if drivers maintain a speed of 40-60 km/h, energy consumption is only 109-129 kWh per 100 kilometers. At a coastal area off-peak rate of 0.3 yuan per kWh, the theoretical cost per 100 kilometers is just 30-40 yuan.
In celebration of its 60th anniversary, JAC Motors has embraced the trends of the times, continuously innovating and breaking new ground. JAC Heavy Truck, in particular, has taken the lead in guiding China’s new energy heavy truck transition. The launch of the Xingyao X5 exemplifies “new quality productivity” through practical economic and power efficiency, providing users with an intelligent, cost-effective, and efficient new energy transport experience.
