On March 26th, the Hi4-G Technology Co-creation Launch Conference of Great Wall Heavy Trucks was held in Baoding. This technological event with the core of “user co-creation” is the first in the industry where truck drivers, representatives of logistics enterprises, and engineers jointly tell the R&D stories on the same stage. Through real-scenario data and technological innovation, it redefines the value standards of China’s heavy truck hybrid technology.

User-oriented Launch Conference: Listening to Front-line Voices and Defining the Technological Direction
This launch conference placed users at the center of the stage for the first time. Four practitioners from different logistics scenarios – Fan Qianjin from Xuzhou Yika, Li Hailin from Kunming Chuxin, Wang Zhenxing from Heibao Logistics, and Lu Bo from Ronghui Logistics – jointly told the R&D journey of participating in the Great Wall Heavy Trucks Hi4-G with the technical team.

During this R&D process, the Great Wall technical team has been on the front line of users’ transportation for years, following drivers on every trip, from undulating mountainous areas to expressways on the plains, in search of the optimal solution in the engineers’ minds. From “repeated setbacks” to “gradual fuel savings”, from “mutual incomprehension” to “tacit co-creation partners”, a total of 1,026 groups of scenario data were collected. Through the iterative mode of “calibration every day”, the core demands of users for fuel savings, power, and scenario adaptation were transformed into achievable technical solutions, making co-creation truck drivers the primary R&D center.
Hundreds of Co-creation + 5 Million Kilometers of Actual Testing: Great Wall Heavy Trucks’ Fuel Consumption Breaks Industry Records

With the joint assistance of hundreds of co-creation officers, Great Wall Heavy Trucks successfully created products that are closest to users’ usage scenarios. Sun Yu, CTO of Great Wall Commercial Vehicles, released data on-site, indicating that according to the actual testing data verified by users over 5 million kilometers, the fuel consumption of Great Wall Hi4-G heavy trucks on expressways in the plains is 3-4L lower than that of traditional diesel heavy trucks, and the fuel consumption for express delivery transportation in the plains is as low as 19.9L per 100 kilometers; the fuel consumption for cold chain transportation in mountainous areas has decreased by more than 30%, and the comprehensive fuel-saving rate for complex routes reaches 15%-25%.

The certification test conducted according to the CHTC-TT national working conditions shows that the Great Wall heavy truck equipped with the Hi4-G super hybrid system is the first heavy truck in the country with a comprehensive fuel consumption of less than 30L per 100 kilometers. The comprehensive fuel consumption is only 29.7L per 100 kilometers, which is 17% lower than the national fourth-stage standard (35.8L per 100 kilometers). The fuel consumption under working conditions leads the industry and sets a new industry benchmark.
Industry-first Technological Architecture: Three-engine Power + Scenario Self-adaptation
The Hi4-G super hybrid system of Great Wall Heavy Trucks is specially designed for the trunk logistics of heavy trucks. With the core concepts of “fuel-saving, worry-free, and intelligent”, it integrates the core technologies of three engines, eight gears, and ten modes.

The Hi4-G super hybrid system is equipped with the world’s first 8-speed intelligent hybrid transmission for heavy trucks, which is independently developed in-house. It supports intelligent switching of multiple hybrid gears and is suitable for scenarios such as expressways in the plains, climbing in mountainous areas, and starting with heavy loads. The power response efficiency is increased by 20%. Combined with the Cummins 13L high-thermal-efficiency engine, it achieves efficient coordination between diesel and electricity, with a comprehensive horsepower of over 1,000 hp. The industry’s first three-engine intelligent power architecture (P2 + P2.5 dual motors + diesel engine) features independent control of the dual motors, providing assistance when going uphill and energy recovery when going downhill, increasing the cruising range in mountainous scenarios by 15%.
The intelligent domain control system can analyze the load, road conditions, and timeliness requirements in real-time and automatically switch among ten driving modes. In addition, the multi-in-one domain controller independently developed by Great Wall Heavy Trucks in-house integrates functions such as battery management and drive control, supports OTA remote upgrades, and further improves the system’s response speed and reliability.

The 30C high-rate battery supports fast charging and discharging, with a cycle life exceeding 1 million kilometers. The B10 life mileage of the engine reaches 1.8 million kilometers, leading the industry; the oil change cycle is extended to 200,000 kilometers, and the service life of the clutch and brake pads is doubled, reducing maintenance costs and providing users with reliability guarantees in all scenarios.
At the same time, regarding the service issues that users are concerned about, Great Wall Heavy Trucks will use the resources of Great Wall passenger vehicles distributed nationwide as parts warehouses to achieve parts reserves in the national central warehouses; in 2025, it will also cooperate with Cummins to cover hundreds of service outlets in core logistics cities and along the main lines of the “five vertical and seven horizontal” routes.
Wei Jianjun: Initiates a Fuel Consumption Challenge and Adds 100 More User Trial Vehicles
At the end of the launch conference, Wei Jianjun, Chairman of Great Wall Motor, announced two major plans: opening the laboratory and welcoming all fleets of imported vehicles and truck drivers to challenge. He also specially invited peers to compete in fuel consumption, and the winners can use Great Wall Heavy Trucks for free for one year.

Trial of Hundreds of Hybrid Heavy Trucks: Great Wall Heavy Trucks will add 100 more vehicles for users to experience in depth and continue to optimize the products. Wei Jianjun said, “The fuel savings of Great Wall Heavy Trucks Hi4-G are just the beginning. Making everyone earn more money is our ultimate goal.”
Centering on users, the value logic of heavy trucks is reshaped. The release of the Hi4-G super intelligent hybrid technology of Great Wall Heavy Trucks marks that China’s heavy truck industry has entered a new stage from the “fuel era” to the stage of “technology defined by users”. In the future, Great Wall Heavy Trucks will continue to expand the application scenarios of hybrid technology and jointly embark on a new era of intelligent hybrid with users.
