On July 29, 2025, the “Value-Led, Vision for the Future” Yutong Heavy-Duty Truck Full-Scenario New Product Launch Event was held in Zhengzhou. At the event, Yutong released a range of full-scenario heavy-duty truck models, further covering segmented markets, enhancing product competitiveness, and creating higher value for users in their future operations.

Unlike other multi-vehicle launch events the author has attended, the models released this time feature no repeated configurations – each one corresponds to different working conditions, with strong targeting for segmented markets. So, what are the configurations of these new products, and which working conditions are they suitable for? Let’s take a look.

Yutong T400

The first vehicle in the launch exhibition area is the Yutong T400 pure electric tractor, featuring a three-electric system composed of a 400kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, central-drive multi-speed AMT, and SiC (silicon carbide) integrated controller. Its biggest highlight is the full-vehicle lightweight design, with applications such as a keel chassis, flat-roof cab, and aluminum alloy wheels, bringing its curb weight down to 9.1 tons. For users engaged in transportation where freight is calculated by volume – such as coal, gravel, and bulk cement – carrying more means earning more. Taking coal transportation as an example, carrying one extra ton per trip can increase earnings by 200-240 yuan.

Among electric heavy-duty trucks, Yutong’s energy consumption is also below the average level, with a comprehensive energy consumption of approximately 1-1.3 kWh per kilometer and a range of over 300 kilometers. Based on fixed daily operations for medium-short distance sand and gravel transportation, with an annual operating mileage of 120,000 kilometers, the fuel-electric price difference can reach roughly 100,000-120,000 yuan. In favorable market conditions, the low curb weight and fuel-electric savings can generate a combined profit of about 200,000 yuan per year, allowing users to recoup their investment in two years and “save up” for a new vehicle in the next three.

Yutong T400RE Extended-Range Tractor

Yutong is currently the only manufacturer mass-producing extended-range fuel-electric tractors in the heavy-duty truck sector. The Yutong T400RE extended-range tractor adopts a “large battery capacity + small range extender” technical route, equipped with a 400kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and a Yuchai 90kW range extender system, with a 150L fuel tank for the extender. With a full charge and full tank, its range reaches up to 1,000 kilometers, completely eliminating range anxiety for new energy heavy-duty trucks.

In terms of application scenarios, it is suitable for short-distance, long-distance, and irregular route transportation. For example, if a vehicle has a 300-kilometer range but needs to travel 400 kilometers to reach its destination, with tight schedules or no charging stations along the way, the missing 100 kilometers can be covered by the range extender, and charging can be done upon arrival. This design of the Yutong T400RE extended-range heavy-duty truck fills the gaps of pure electric heavy-duty trucks for same-day round trips and mountain/mining operations.

Yutong Tianxing C331 Box Truck

Many express logistics parks are now focusing on carbon credits, and with intercity express transportation requiring cost reduction and efficiency improvement, many users have begun considering electric large single-axle trucks. Yutong Heavy-Duty Truck’s newly launched Tianxing C331 truck perfectly meets the needs of such users. Equipped with Yutong’s self-developed Shenlan 331kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, it achieves an actual full-vehicle range of over 400 kilometers, easily handling same-day intercity round trips or long-distance provincial trunk lines. The cost difference is significant: a large single-axle fuel truck costs about 1.5 yuan per kilometer, while the Yutong Tianxing C331 only costs 0.5 yuan. With daily operations of around 400 kilometers, it can save 80,000-100,000 yuan annually in fuel-electric costs.

The battery adopts an underfloor central layout to further lower the vehicle’s center of gravity. The chassis features a new design, and the upper body is manufactured with lightweight materials, resulting in a curb weight of only 9 tons – achieving the same weight as fuel-powered models. Additionally, it uses a high-power motor and an industry-first direct motor drive system to improve transmission efficiency. The cab, deflector, and multiple low-wind-resistance designs, combined with low-rolling-resistance tires, reduce the full-vehicle wind resistance to 0.397, making its energy consumption 20% better than the industry average. The overall performance of the Yutong Tianxing C331 large single-axle truck perfectly matches medium-short distance express transportation, with outstanding advantages in cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Yutong Tianxing C331 Refrigerated Truck

New energy refrigerated trucks also offer immediate cost savings. Based on the Tianxing C331 truck platform, Yutong has developed a new refrigerated truck product. Through a new chassis design, multiple lightweight measures, and a one-time foam molding process for the cargo compartment, its curb weight is reduced to 9 tons – comparable to that of conventional 7.7-meter refrigerated trucks – helping users carry more and run faster. Being new energy-powered, this type of refrigerated truck does not consume excessive fuel for pre-cooling or temperature maintenance during parking, as electricity costs are far lower, saving a substantial amount annually.

Despite being a refrigerated truck, the Tianxing C331 refrigerated truck still maintains a range of over 400 kilometers thanks to Yutong’s powerful self-developed three-electric system and precise algorithms. Its battery uses an underfloor central layout to lower the driving center of gravity, making it safer even when transporting high-center-of-gravity goods such as hanging pork.

Yutong T400 Port Tractor

The port tractor market is a key driver of the shift from fuel to electric, but there are few products specifically designed for port tractors – most users purchase general-purpose 4X2 electric tractors for port use. Yutong’s T400 port version is precisely positioned for the port tractor market, adopting a 400kWh underfloor battery. While achieving a range of over 300 kilometers, it does not increase the vehicle length or chassis wheelbase, retaining the maneuverability of 4X2 models in tight spaces and avoiding rear window obstruction (preventing collisions during container lifting).
