CATL 800 – kWh Battery with Fast Charging in Over 40 Minutes

The Yutong Yuanjie T800 is equipped with the BC5 lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL, with a layout of 600 kWh at the bottom + 200 kWh at the back. Users can also choose the 600 – kWh all – bottom – mounted layout according to their working conditions.
The 800 – kWh ultra – large battery capacity can support the vehicle with a cruising range of more than 550 km. Relying on the upgraded Kalman dynamic SOC correction algorithm, the SOC accuracy breaks through 97.5%, thereby increasing the vehicle’s discharge depth. According to Yutong’s actual test data, under the standard load condition, the vehicle’s cruising range has exceeded 600 km, which has no problem in handling single – cross – provincial express logistics routes. It can complete the one – way express delivery from Zhengzhou to Wuhan with a single charge.

Compared with the rear – mounted battery, the bottom – mounted battery can effectively lower the vehicle’s center of gravity and suppress side – roll during cornering. At the same time, it can also leave a large – area field of view for the rear observation window of the cab. However, compared with the rear – mounted battery, the bottom – mounted battery is located in the high – risk area of heavy – truck scratches and collisions. Yutong has also carried out high – standard research and development in battery protection.
The side – hung battery can withstand a 1.4 – ton vehicle colliding at a speed of 50 km/h without battery intrusion, and the bottom protection can withstand a 3 – kg impact object colliding with the bottom of the battery at a speed of 51 km/h (with an energy of 300 J) without piercing. The three – electric waterproof level reaches up to IP68 + IP6k9k, and the motor adopts an anti – condensation structure to meet the usage in vehicle washing, rainy days, and wading scenarios.

The battery capacity of the Yutong Yuanjie T800 is currently the largest in the industry. To achieve high efficiency, it must have a fast – charging system with sufficient performance. Therefore, the vehicle is equipped with dual – gun 600A fast – charging as standard, and can support a maximum of dual – gun 1000A fast – charging, with a charging power of up to 600 kW. Under normal temperature conditions, it only takes over 40 minutes to charge from 20% to 80% SOC. The driver can charge the vehicle while taking a break, which does not affect the operation at all and also alleviates the range and charging anxiety of potential users.

Compared with the common long – distance electric heavy trucks on the market, the Yutong Yuanjie T800 does not adopt the traditional and common central – drive multi – stage variable – speed power chain. In order to improve the transmission efficiency, it is equipped with a dual – electric – drive axle as standard.
The electric drive axle of the Yutong Yuanjie T800 is available in two power versions, with a rated/peak power of 175/250kW×2 and a rated/peak torque of 350/750Nm×2. The system efficiency reaches 93.4%, and the maximum horsepower is as high as 680PS. The overall performance is better than that of central – drive products.

In addition to innovative technologies and efficient matching, Yutong’s Ruikong E platform and integrated thermal management system also contribute to the vehicle’s power consumption being 20% lower than the industry average. By optimizing the three – electric control strategy, the efficiency of the three – electric system is maximized. This technology can make full use of every kilowatt – hour of electricity and every heat source. For example, in winter, the battery’s cruising range usually decreases due to the external ambient temperature. At this time, the integrated thermal management system can transfer the heat generated by the rear – axle motor during operation to the battery through the coolant medium, so as to maintain the normal operating temperature of the battery, thereby extending the cruising range and charging efficiency. Through the vehicle – wide integrated thermal management technology to reduce energy consumption and the high – efficiency braking energy recovery strategy to improve braking power recovery, the vehicle’s energy consumption is supported to be reduced by 8% compared with old products.

The Yutong Yuanjie T800 adopts lightweight topology technology in many parts of the vehicle, such as composite front suspension, aluminum alloy rims, vacuum tires, aluminum alloy brackets, and other weight – reduction measures. The curb weight of the 800 – kWh 6X4 tractor is reduced to 12,300 kg, which is less than 500 kg heavier than other 600 – kWh models on the market.

The working conditions of long – distance transportation vary. When designing the tractor, a good matching degree between the tractor and the trailer is naturally required. Considering that users may currently use over – sized, forward – extending, or non – standard trailers, the Yutong Yuanjie T800 is designed with a turning radius of 2.6 m. That is, the trailer will not conflict with the rear battery after connection, avoiding later modifications and accidental damage.

At the same time, the Yutong Yuanjie T800 is also equipped with low – rolling – resistance tires and maintenance – free bearings, further reducing the rolling resistance of the wheels.

The whole vehicle can be optionally equipped with assisted – driving functions such as Lane Centering Control (LCC), Lane – Keeping Assist (LKA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and functions such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Blind – Spot Braking (BSD), meeting the operation requirements of customers in different scenarios. These functions can effectively reduce the driver’s driving intensity and solve pain – point problems such as vehicle collisions and blind spots.

The driver’s seat is a multi – functional air – bag shock – absorbing seat with functions such as damping adjustment, height adjustment, lumbar support, and one – key inflation and deflation. The seat cushion and backrest have excellent wrapping, are soft yet supportive, and are paired with a delicate – textured fabric surface. However, the size of the sleeper is obviously large, with a width of nearly 900 mm, which can also provide a comfortable rest environment for the driver.
