Volvo Trucks’ Low-Carbon New Performance: Leading Green Heavy-Duty Truck Manufacturing

This new type of steel is produced by Swedish steel company SSAB and is known as SSAB Zero. It is made from recycled materials and produced using fossil-free electricity and bio-natural gas. Therefore, compared to steel produced with traditional fossil fuels, it reduces carbon emissions by approximately 80%.

It is expected that next year, around 12,000 Volvo FH and FM heavy-duty truck chassis beams will be made from low-carbon steel, which will reduce emissions by about 6,600 tons of CO2 equivalent. As the supply of low-carbon steel increases, this material is expected to be used in more Volvo heavy-duty truck models and other components in the future.
