The Hannover Motor Show is currently the world’s largest commercial vehicle exhibition, bringing together top global commercial vehicle brands and products. In past years, the title of the most powerful truck typically oscillated between Scania and Volvo. However, at the 2024 IAA, a Chinese truck stepped up to dethrone European models and claimed the title of horsepower champion.

That’s right! The most powerful truck at this year’s IAA is none other than the Shaanxi Automobile Delong X6000, boasting an impressive 840 horsepower. Moreover, this Delong X6000’s configuration is nothing short of top-of-the-line.
Gleaming Exterior Package and Built-in Electronic Mirrors:

The Delong X6000 showcased at the event comes with a factory-installed golden exterior package. It features five spotlights and a branded lightbox on the roof, while the lower part of the bumper is equipped with a metal guard with flashing lights. This package gives the X6000 a more robust appearance, with a lowered visual profile, making it stand out among its top European competitors.

The factory-installed rooftop decoration adds to the truck’s European flair. Moreover, domestic customers can also opt for this kit, which is both affordable and practical, and it can be legally registered.

This truck also features the increasingly popular electronic mirror system. Positioned higher up, it offers a superior view and some scratch-resistance capability.

The screen shows not only the images from both the main and auxiliary mirrors but also allows angle adjustments for better visibility. It even includes a trailer rear alert line, helping the driver accurately assess the safe distance behind the trailer.

In terms of lighting, the Delong X6000 uses an integrated headlight design, with all internal light sources being LEDs, offering longer illumination distances and greater longevity. The main headlights come equipped with lenses to enhance lighting performance.

Beneath the bumper is a millimeter-wave radar, indicating that the truck comes with multiple active safety features, including ACC, AEBS, and LDW. Furthermore, the Delong X6000 can achieve Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities and can even perform self-parking when paired with some semi-trailer models

On the side of the truck, a tiger decal adds a fierce, commanding presence. As the king of beasts, the tiger symbolizes power, much like this truck represents the king of horsepower.

A finely crafted side skirt has been added to the vehicle, with the mudguard painted orange. The front of the side skirt connects seamlessly to the body, while a black rubber strip fills the gap between the trailer and the truck head, further reducing wind resistance.

Sealing strips are placed around the door seams—not to reduce wind resistance, but to enhance the cab’s sealing, reducing noise and blocking dust

A step ladder is placed on the left side skirt, labeled with “X6000-PEAK POWER,” indicating the X6000’s peak power status.

Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with blind spot detection (BSIS), meeting European regulations. Most new trucks at the show had this feature, underscoring Shaanxi Automobile’s high international standards and its commitment to safety and comprehensive features.
Interior Enhancements, Larger Screen Size:

The driver’s seat features a multifunctional air suspension seat, developed in-house by Shaanxi Automobile. It comes with height, damping, and cushion length adjustments, and offers lumbar support, ventilation, and heating, covering all the daily needs of truck drivers.

The Delong X6000’s interior has also been upgraded. The center console now features a larger LCD screen, twice the size of the previous model. The dashboard is designed in a wrap-around structure, allowing for easier control of the functional areas by the driver.

While the screen has been upgraded, Shaanxi Automobile has retained the traditional air conditioning buttons for ease of use, allowing drivers to adjust the settings without distraction.
The Delong X6000 also makes great use of interior space, with over ten storage compartments and cup holders below the console. Both the driver and passenger areas are equipped with 24V power outlets and USB ports for charging devices.

The parking brake has been updated from the traditional mechanical lever to an electronic brake, offering better feel and durability with its metallic switch.

In front of the passenger seat, a retractable table is designed to support up to 5kg, with enough resistance to stay in place during sudden stops.

The rear bunk offers a maximum width of 900mm. As seen in the image, the bunk provides ample space for turning over while resting. The mattress has been upgraded to a softer diamond-shaped one, providing a better rest environment for drivers.

A parking air conditioner is mounted on the roof—perfect for overnight stays in hot summer weather.
840 Horsepower, Exquisite Chassis Craftsmanship:

The Shaanxi Automobile Delong X6000’s trump card, its engine, comes from the Weichai WP17H series. This 17-liter engine delivers a maximum of 840 horsepower and a peak torque of up to 3750N.m, providing powerful performance in mountainous terrain and heavy-load conditions.

The Weichai WP17H engine is truly packed with cutting-edge technology. It employs the “four highs and two lows” technology, which includes high explosion pressure, high rail pressure, high-efficiency turbocharging, high-efficiency pulsing, as well as low friction and low back pressure. These advancements result in an overall fuel consumption reduction of 5%-8%, and its B10 lifespan exceeds 2 million kilometers, with a noticeable power boost. It is precisely because of these features that the Shaanxi Automobile Delong X6000 840 has claimed the crown and earned the title of “King of Horsepower.”

The transmission is paired with the Fast Intelligent 16-speed overdrive AMT gearbox, utilizing an exceptionally wide gear ratio range to keep the engine consistently operating within its optimal economic speed band, thus ensuring excellent fuel efficiency. Additionally, the gearbox is equipped with manual mode, economy mode, and power mode functions, allowing it to adapt to various load conditions and road environments.

The rear axle is matched with the HanDe H-series high-efficiency axle, with a gear ratio of 3.083. The combination of the 16-speed overdrive gearbox and this rear axle ratio provides outstanding maneuverability, enabling high average speeds and stable low fuel consumption control on both highways and national roads.
The Shaanxi Automobile Delong X6000 840 is equipped with Michelin 315/80R22.5 vacuum tires across all wheels, and the rims are made of aluminum alloy to reduce weight.

Although the exhibition vehicle’s rear suspension uses a three-leaf steel spring setup instead of air suspension, it features a sufficiently thick rear axle stabilizer bar. This type of configuration can reduce the vehicle’s body roll when cornering at high speeds, enhancing driving safety.

The rear axle uses a horizontal pin V-push design, aimed at preventing axle displacement and improving driving stability. Since this is an exhibition vehicle, the chassis has been fully painted with metallic paint, from the main beam to the V-push, axle, and cross beams, making it shine brightly in the exhibition hall.

The wiring on this vehicle is truly neat and pleasing to the eye.

The saddle used is a cast saddle, similar to those used in European trucks, rather than a traditional stamped saddle. This type of saddle offers higher strength and better wear resistance.

The chassis is equipped with a fully enclosed stainless steel work platform, making trailer connection operations safer and providing protection for chassis components.
Editor’s Note:

From China to the world, this is the path that Chinese trucks are taking. The appearance of Shaanxi Automobile’s 840-horsepower flagship model at the Hannover IAA Show is of great significance. Not only does it elevate Chinese heavy-duty trucks to the status of the world’s horsepower king, but it also proves once again the strength of Chinese manufacturing, laying the groundwork for further expansion into the global market.
