When the Chenglong H7 debuted, its elegant appearance and robust lines made it the brightest star during the early days of high-end heavy-duty trucks in China. Now, eight years later, the Chenglong H7 PRO Dual-Fuel Tractor has been unveiled during Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor’s second annual Technology Week. In addition to its new styling and interior upgrades, Chenglong equipped this model with dual-fuel technology for LNG and CNG.
“Treasure Bowl” Exterior Design, Luxurious and High-Tech Interior
The Chenglong H7 PRO’s exterior offers an eye-catching upgrade. Its ice-blue paint exudes elegance without being overly ostentatious. This generation of the Chenglong H7 also comes standard with brighter, more effective LED headlights. Additionally, the model photographed is equipped with a 360° panoramic camera, electrically adjustable heated mirrors, collision warning, lane departure warning, and many other safety and convenience features for daily driving.
The unique personality of Chenglong trucks is vividly reflected in the grille design. The stylish exterior incorporates elements of Chinese traditional aesthetics, making Chenglong trucks a trendsetter in the industry. The all-new Chenglong H7 PRO features a grille inspired by the “treasure bowl” design. The silver accents and surrounding lines create a vivid and dynamic appearance. Beyond setting a new style standard, this design symbolizes good fortune for truckers during their cargo journeys.
The Chenglong H7 PRO has been further refined in terms of aerodynamics. The curve of the wind-facing components on the cab is more pronounced, and the edges are rounded. It also features low-drag streamlined roof covers and integrated rearview mirrors to reduce drag coefficients at high speeds.
Moving to the interior, the design has been completely refreshed. The previous steady style has been replaced with a light luxury aesthetic favored by younger drivers, adapting well to evolving tastes across generations. In terms of features, the Chenglong H7 PRO remains well-equipped, sharing components with the Chenglong HK model, such as a multifunction steering wheel, a floating LCD smart infotainment screen, a wrap-around dashboard, integrated smart automatic air conditioning, and multifunction air-suspension seats.
The interior upgrades are noticeable in details like the door panels, which now feature a warm beige color scheme. The armrests and dashboard trims showcase a premium golden hue inspired by Chinese cultural trends. Buttons have also been upgraded to resemble those in passenger vehicles.
The flat-floor design of the Chenglong H7 creates a spacious cabin environment, allowing drivers to move freely. It also optimizes interior space usage, such as the large storage compartments under the bed and the pull-out storage drawers under the dashboard.
This image showcases the overall layout of the cabin, which prioritizes ample storage space. Features include a central workbench, storage areas in front of the passenger seat, three large overhead storage cabinets, and two open storage slots. The Chenglong H7 PRO has fully considered the needs of long-distance drivers operating in tandem.
For tandem drivers, a good resting setup is essential. The high-roof dual-bunk layout with widened bed designs ensures maximum comfort, with the top and bottom bunk widths reaching 850–900 mm in the 2025 Chenglong H7 models.
570-Horsepower Engine, LNG + CNG Dual Fuel
The Chenglong H7 PRO boasts multiple highlights, including its dual-fuel system for LNG and CNG, featuring separate tanks for each fuel type.
The CNG tanks are rear-mounted in an 8x260L configuration, providing a total capacity of 2080L, capable of holding up to 416 cubic meters of compressed natural gas. This setup supports a maximum range of 800 kilometers on CNG alone.
The LNG tank is side-mounted on the chassis, effectively utilizing available space. With a 4300mm wheelbase, the LNG tank can hold up to 500L, equivalent to 192 kilograms of liquefied natural gas, allowing for a range of 600 kilometers on LNG alone.
In terms of performance, the Chenglong H7 PRO is powered by the Yuchai YCK15N 15-liter natural gas engine. This engine delivers an impressive 570 horsepower and a maximum torque of 2750 N·m, with 2400 N·m of low-end torque available from just 800 RPM. The engine’s minimum gas consumption is 181 g/kW·h, reducing overall gas consumption by 2–3 kg per 100 km. The lightweight engine design incorporates cast aluminum components, making it the lightest in its class, with a B10 lifespan of up to 1.8 million kilometers.
The transmission is a Fast 12-speed manual gearbox (model C12JSDQXL260TA), which is among the top-performing Fast gearboxes. It features full synchronizers, dual intermediate shafts, helical gears, a fully aluminum alloy housing, and overdrive capability. This configuration ensures smooth gear changes, minimal operating noise, and enhanced durability. Additionally, the Chenglong H7 PRO is equipped with a hydraulic retarder providing a maximum braking torque of 4000 N·m, a valuable safety feature for dual-fuel trucks operating nationwide.
The truck features a 6×4 drive layout with a new lightweight 440 axle. To improve adaptability, it comes standard with dual differential locks, enhancing its off-road capabilities when hauling green channel freight or navigating construction sites.
The hubs on all wheels feature low-maintenance Comma oil-lubricated bearings, eliminating the need for frequent oil changes under normal conditions, reducing maintenance frequency, and improving uptime.

However, due to China’s vast size and uneven distribution of LNG and CNG infrastructure, as well as price disparities, single-fuel trucks require careful route planning for refueling and range optimization.
