Sincere Cooperation

Building Global Hydrogen Representative Cities

According to the memorandum of cooperation, Hyundai Motor Group, Guangzhou, and Ulsan will jointly promote diversified hydrogen industry cooperation and build the hydrogen industry. This includes jointly hosting hydrogen energy exchanges and seminars, sharing excellent examples in the hydrogen energy field, and exploring cooperation plans; jointly developing demonstration and pilot projects throughout the hydrogen energy lifecycle, including hydrogen production, distribution, and utilization; and implementing joint R&D projects to enhance the competitiveness of hydrogen energy technologies through industry-university-research collaboration.

It is understood that Hyundai Motor had previously engaged in diverse hydrogen energy business cooperation with these two international-leading hydrogen energy cities. Through this memorandum, the three parties will achieve closer collaboration and further solidify the leading positions of Guangzhou and Ulsan as pioneer cities in the hydrogen industry.

Hyundai Motor Group’s CEO, Chang Jae-hoon, stated at the signing ceremony: “China will become the largest hydrogen fuel cell vehicle market in the world, holding a very important position. Guangzhou, China, is the first and only city outside of Korea where Hyundai Motor has established a hydrogen fuel cell system R&D and production base. Hyundai Motor will play a key role as a bridge for cooperation and exchange between the two cities, helping them grow into global hydrogen representative cities.”

The vehicle is equipped with a hydrogen stack system with a rated power of 90 kW, achieving an efficiency of 64% and lower hydrogen consumption. The electric motor’s peak power of 140 kW provides powerful output, enabling fast starts and strong acceleration. Hydrogen storage tanks are distributed on both sides of the chassis, with each tank having a capacity of 260L, for a total hydrogen storage of 520L. This allows the vehicle to achieve a range of 574 km under pure hydrogen conditions. Refueling takes only 8 to 10 minutes, making the vehicle efficient and convenient for urban delivery and intercity logistics transport.
