On April 17th, the “BYD Pure Electric Engineering Vehicle New Product Launch Conference” was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The first pure electric engineering vehicles T25 and T31 series equipped with BYD blade batteries made their debut, aiming to promote low-carbon transformation in engineering construction with core technology, create a model of green construction, and contribute to the sustainable development of the transportation sector.

Under the “dual-carbon” strategy, the high pollution, emissions, and noise of traditional diesel vehicles have become urgent issues in the green and low-carbon transformation of engineering construction. Tian Chunlong, General Manager of BYD’s Commercial Vehicle Division, said, “Vehicle companies and engineering construction enterprises share the responsibility of energy conservation and emission reduction in the transportation sector. The BYD T25 and T31 models focus on remote and bridge/tunnel construction and are more applicable than common new energy heavy-duty trucks, aiming to bridge the ‘last mile’ in engineering construction.”

The T25, first introduced by BYD CV, is specially developed for actual operation scenarios in engineering construction. Li Jian, Director of Special Vehicle Products at the Commercial Vehicle Research Institute, stated, “After long-term scenario research, road mapping, and vehicle trial operation, we have conducted multi-dimensional adaptive design based on construction scenarios such as narrow tunnels, frequent climbing, continuous uphill/downhill, and muddy clay roads.” With a wheelbase of 3950+1400mm, the T25 achieves the shortest in the industry, with a minimum turning radius of 8.5m, allowing it to flexibly maneuver even on narrow and winding roads, effectively solving the “difficulties” in bridge/tunnel construction scenarios. The low center of gravity from side-mounted batteries ensures stability while maintaining passability, with a side-mounted ground clearance of 550mm to prevent collisions effectively.

Outstanding quality stems from leading technology. The four vehicles, “equipped with blades,” are all equipped with blade batteries that integrate super safety, long lifespan, high strength, high integration, and ultra-fast charging, ensuring a more secure driving experience. Equipped with a 300kW high-power dual-gun charging system, rapid charging improves vehicle attendance rates. The large-torque dual-winding motor, six-speed AMT, and high-speed ratio rear axle form an efficient transmission chain, providing ample power, effectively addressing climbing scenarios, and enhancing rescue capabilities. Based on torque dynamic efficient allocation, electric brake priority settings, and efficient electric control system, the vehicle’s overall operational efficiency and economy are significantly improved. The EU-certified high-strength cab is equipped with ergonomic leather seats, throttle anti-misstep, one-key start, remote OTA upgrades, and other user-friendly designs, making driving in construction conditions more comfortable.

Additionally, the chassis is equipped with triple-layer armor-style anti-corrosion frames, large-tonnage balance suspensions, heavy-duty axles, and large cylinder-diameter steering devices, ensuring that the vehicle meets ultra-high standards in performance, reliability, and safety. It can also be used as a dump truck or concrete mixer according to different operational needs, providing a better choice for new energy engineering vehicles. The T25 and T31 models are the product of joint efforts by BYD and Sichuan Road & Bridge, empowering digitalization, intelligence, and green low-carbon transformation with new energy technology and products. Based on years of cooperation, both parties will continue to integrate advantageous resources, with the deployment of over 300 pure electric engineering vehicles as a witness and this new product launch as a new starting point, more effectively seizing the opportunities of the “dual-carbon” strategy and jointly promoting the comprehensive electrification of engineering construction in Sichuan.

In the future, BYD will continue to expand its technological capabilities, enrich the high-quality new energy heavy-duty truck product matrix, create a new benchmark for the engineering industry, lead the customization trend of new energy heavy-duty trucks, and promote the green development of China’s engineering construction.
