(June 24, 2025, Shanghai) ZF Aftermarket China Remanufacturing and Service Operation Center held a grand opening ceremony at its new location in the Comprehensive Bonded Zone of Shanghai Lingang New Area. Zhao Yihuai, Member of the Party Working Committee and Full-time Deputy Director of Lingang New Area, Zhang Hong, Director of Yangshan Customs, Lin Yisong, Director of the Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone Division (Shipping Division) of Lingang New Area Management Committee, Xia Yongzheng, Deputy Director of the Foreign Trade Reform and Innovation Division of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Huang Yue, Deputy Director of the Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone Division (Shipping Division) of Lingang New Area Management Committee, Philippe Colpron, Executive Vice President of ZF Group and Head of Aftermarket Division, Teoh Chee How, Vice President of ZF Group Aftermarket Division and Head of Asia-Pacific Region, as well as mainstream industry media attended and witnessed the event.

Radiating the Asia-Pacific Region and Linking Global Markets
The new center will serve as a hub for remanufacturing and services in the Asia-Pacific region and global markets, fully demonstrating the synergistic efficiency among ZF’s remanufacturing plants. This move marks a strategic leap for ZF China’s remanufacturing business from “localized services” to “radiating Asia-Pacific and linking the world”, not only setting a new paradigm for regional industrial collaboration but also building a new international industry model through green circular economy practices.
The new ZF Aftermarket China Remanufacturing Center covers an area of 4,855 square meters, a 40% expansion from the original site. The newly upgraded venue is equipped with a full range of advanced equipment, including electro-hydraulic controller test benches, transmission assembly test benches, automatic sandblasting machines, parts cleaning machines, torque converter cleaning machines, transmission assembly workstations, transmission leak testers, automatic transmission oil filling machines, and transmission program writing equipment.

Deepening the Remanufacturing Field in China to Help Achieve Carbon Neutrality Goals
As a global leader in automotive parts remanufacturing, ZF has always positioned remanufacturing as a key part of its sustainable development strategy. Since taking the lead in entering the remanufacturing field in the 1960s, ZF has established 20 remanufacturing bases in 11 countries and regions worldwide, with over 5,500 remanufactured product types based on part numbers. Through the forward-looking design concept of “considering remanufacturing at the product design stage”, ZF integrates sustainable development thinking throughout the entire product life cycle, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional remanufacturing models. Through its remanufacturing business, ZF has achieved over 35,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions reduction globally as of 2024, a result that strongly confirms the company’s firm commitment to its 2040 carbon neutrality goal.

The ZF Aftermarket China Remanufacturing Center was established in 2016. In recent years, ZF Aftermarket has accelerated its remanufacturing layout in China, continuously expanded its remanufactured product matrix, and increased investment in R&D and planning for new remanufactured products. Based on traditional advantageous products such as automatic transmissions, valve bodies, transfer cases, and steering gears, it will continue to launch new categories such as control arms and air pumps. Future remanufactured product plans will also include air suspensions, new energy reducers, new energy air conditioning compressors, and inverters.
Philippe Colpron, Executive Vice President of ZF Group and Head of Aftermarket Division, emphasized in his speech: “ZF Aftermarket focuses on customer needs and will continue to provide leading products and localized service solutions for partners committed to achieving the vision of ‘zero emissions, zero accidents, zero downtime’.
Relying on a more efficient operation model, a broader product matrix, and stronger global synergistic efficiency, ZF Aftermarket will inject new momentum into the development of the circular economy in the automotive aftermarket. We will join hands with partners to build a sustainable mobility ecosystem, promote long-term industry value growth, and help maximize mobility uptime.”

After the opening ceremony, Mr. Philippe Colpron and Mr. Teoh Chee How accompanied the government leaders of Lingang New Area to visit the remanufacturing plant, during which they had in-depth discussions with industry media on topics such as the prospects of the automotive aftermarket remanufacturing industry, ZF’s strategic layout in China, and new energy remanufactured product planning.
When responding to the positioning of the Lingang remanufacturing center in the Asia-Pacific business segment, Teoh Chee How emphasized: “The Lingang center will integrate the triple advantages of ‘technological innovation + policy dividends + global collaboration’, not only serving the Chinese market but also becoming a remanufacturing technology output and service hub radiating Asia-Pacific, promoting the low-carbon and efficient transformation of regional industries.”
A New Journey of Remanufacturing, Winning the Future with Green Manufacturing
The official launch of the Lingang remanufacturing center is not only an important milestone in ZF Aftermarket’s strategic layout in the Asia-Pacific region but will also bring multiple value upgrades to customers: faster delivery cycles, more flexible customized services, and stronger cost competitiveness.
Facing the future, ZF Aftermarket will continue to deepen its localized innovation layout and lead the development of the remanufacturing industry with a global vision. As the importance of the circular economy becomes increasingly prominent, ZF Aftermarket is using innovation to map out a new blueprint for the green development of the industry — building a long-term collaborative mechanism with ecological partners to jointly help maximize mobility uptime.
