Dec Heavy-Duty Truck Market Closes 2025 with 9-Month Winning Streak; TOP 10 Enterprises Review & Industry Dynamics
According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the heavy-duty truck market sold 102,701 units in December 2025, a month-on-month decrease of 9.31% but a year-on-year increase of 21.98%, marking a perfect end to the year with a nine-month consecutive growth streak (“nine-month winning streak”). Natural gas commercial vehicle sales reached 16,000 units in December, down 9.1% year-on-year, but the full-year sales hit 246,000 units, up 11.6% year-on-year, significantly extending the current boom cycle of gas-powered vehicles.
Breakdown by segment:
- Tractor trucks: 51,189 units sold in December, up 25.34% year-on-year, achieving an eight-month consecutive growth streak.
- Heavy-duty trucks: 51,512 units sold, up 18.71% year-on-year, with an 11-month consecutive growth streak (including 30,768 complete vehicles and 20,744 incomplete vehicles).
Cumulatively, the heavy-duty truck market sold 1,144,947 units from January to December 2025, a year-on-year increase of 26.98%, surpassing the one-million-unit mark again after four years. Although sales volume varies among segments, the internal sales structure has shown significant differentiation: tractor trucks and heavy-duty trucks recorded cumulative sales of 591,300 units and 553,700 units respectively, up 26.2% and 42.0% year-on-year, with a sales gap of 37,600 units. The market structure remained basically consistent with 2024, maintaining a 52:48 ratio.

Performance by Enterprise Group
Tractor Truck Segment
- Shaanxi Automobile Group ranked first for the first time in the year with an outstanding performance of 10,840 units, up 64.74% year-on-year.
- FAW Group followed closely with 10,070 units; without a 7.61% year-on-year decline, it could have achieved better monthly results.
- Traditional leader Sinotruk Group maintained its top-three position with 9,865 units, up 14.64% year-on-year.
- Dongfeng Group (7,988 units) and Foton Group (4,031 units) both maintained rapid year-on-year growth.
The top 5 enterprises accounted for 83.6% of the total market share, with a slight contraction at the end of the year. XCMG Group (2,401 units, +2.91% YoY) barely maintained its consecutive growth streak. BAIC Heavy-Duty (1,495 units) and Shandong Leichi (1,079 units) had similar sales volumes; considering that the latter’s sales were all new energy vehicles, it has become a new “market disruptor” in the industry. Geely Hualing (723 units) saw a year-on-year growth of over 40%, while Yutong Group (675 units) maintained its top-10 monthly sales position with a more than three-fold surge. GAC Lingcheng (634 units) behind it cannot be underestimated with a year-on-year increase of over four times. In total, the top 10 tractor truck enterprises sold 49,167 units, accounting for 96.05% of the market share.
Heavy-Duty Truck Segment
- Sinotruk Group sold 12,900 units (including 128 incomplete vehicles), maintaining the monthly sales volume of over 10,000 units.
- Dongfeng Group sold 9,984 units (7,860 incomplete vehicles), very close to the 10,000-unit mark.
- Shaanxi Automobile Group (8,939 units, 8,033 incomplete vehicles) and Foton Group (6,729 units, 417 incomplete vehicles) both moved up in the rankings.
- FAW Group (5,582 units, 3,477 incomplete vehicles) saw a certain “contraction” in sales.
The top 5 enterprises accounted for 85.68% of the market share, with a further decline in their collective share. For the 6th to 10th positions: XCMG Group (3,099 units) stood out relatively; Hubei Tricycle Group (729 units) appeared on the list consecutively; Beiben Heavy-Duty (610 units) returned to the rankings; Chery Group (565 units) and Geely Hualing (472 units) completed the top 10 lineup. The top 10 heavy-duty truck enterprises sold 49,613 units in total, accounting for 96.31% of the market share. Established enterprises such as JAC (426 units), Zoomlion Huqiao (400 units, all incomplete vehicles), Qingling (375 units, 370 incomplete vehicles) and GAC Lingcheng (210 units, 9 incomplete vehicles) are also worth mentioning, indicating that the competition in the heavy-duty truck market outside the top 6 enterprises is still fierce.

2025 Full-Year Sales Finalized: New Pattern Emerges in Heavy-Duty Truck Industry
First, the top 5 enterprises achieved a total sales volume of 1.028 million units, expanding their market share to 89.8%, further consolidating the Matthew Effect of “the strong get stronger”. Although the market shares of the top 4 enterprises (Sinotruk, FAW, Shaanxi Automobile and Dongfeng) all saw slight declines, their cumulative sales hit new highs—for example, Sinotruk exceeded 300,000 units and FAW exceeded 200,000 units. Foton Group, ranked 5th, increased its market share to 12.42%, up nearly 5 percentage points from last year, becoming a shining star among the top 5.
For the 6th to 10th positions:
- XCMG firmly ranked 6th with outstanding performance in new energy vehicles, with cumulative sales exceeding 40,000 units, setting a new high.
- JAC saw a 5.87% decline in sales; although sales still exceeded 10,000 units, it was obviously affected by the gradual independence of OEM partners, putting the enterprise at a crossroads again.
- BAIC Heavy-Duty’s annual sales exceeded 10,000 units for the first time, with a year-on-year growth rate of over 50%, entering a steady climbing stage.
A “shuffle” also took place in the top 10 rankings: Geely Hualing and CHTC United Truck entered the list, ranking 7th and 10th respectively, both with a doubling of sales volume. In contrast, the replaced enterprises (Chengdu Dayun and Beiben Heavy-Duty) faced their own challenges: Chengdu Dayun, which suffered heavy losses, was forced to suspend marketing operations due to restructuring procedures; Beiben Heavy-Duty, although ranked 11th with sales of 6,000 units, saw a year-on-year decline of nearly 50%, needing to regain its development rhythm in the new year.
Another 23 enterprises competed for the remaining market share of less than 3%, with mixed fortunes:
- Yutong Group reversed the downward trend in the second half of the year through strong performance in the fourth quarter, with annual sales exceeding 5,000 units, reaching the first ceiling for “cross-border” enterprises.
- Shandong Leichi, which was counted separately for the first time, recorded sales of 5,034 units, attracting much attention.
- Hubei Tricycle Group, GAC Lingcheng, Qingling and BYD all achieved good performance, but still had a long way to go to catch up with mainstream enterprises.
- YTO Group saw a slight decline in cumulative sales; SAIC Hongyan failed to exceed 1,000 units after restructuring; Shanxi New Energy (under Geely), Sichuan Nanjun and Hebei Changzheng (under Great Wall) all underperformed compared with the same period last year, requiring more efforts in 2026.
87 New Models in 2026 First Batch Maintain Prosperity; FAW’s First 8×8 Hybrid Truck & Foton Daimler’s First LNG Plug-In Hybrid Tractor

On the evening of January 8, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the 2026 first batch of new model announcements (Batch 403) for January. After identification, this batch includes 48 tractor truck models (complete vehicle caliber) and 39 heavy-duty truck models (chassis caliber), totaling 87 new heavy-duty truck models. Although it ended the rapid growth in the fourth quarter of last year with a 15.3% month-on-month decrease, it achieved a 16.0% year-on-year increase, hitting the highest level in the past four years, marking a good start for new product R&D in 2026. Driven by this, the industry average in the past six months has continued to rise to 84.3 models, with four months exceeding the average level in the past six months, which is the best endorsement of the current “golden age” of R&D work. There was only 1 “special model” in this batch, namely Foton Motor’s Auman BEACON series BJ4189EVBA pure electric tractor truck declared in the previous batch.

FAW Group filed for the industry’s first off-road heavy truck adopting the HEV route in this batch—the FAW J6P series CA2310P66K24L2T11E6HEV hybrid off-road vehicle chassis. This new model adopts an 8×8 chassis architecture, with a seating capacity of 2 people and a wheelbase of 3.4 meters. It is equipped with front/rear coil springs and 395 single-tire structure, matched with FAW Group’s 11.05L, 460-horsepower diesel engine, Beijing Huading Guolian single-cell battery, FAW Group-assembled NCM power battery and FAW Group’s 130kW electric drive system. In the field of 2-series off-road vehicles, passenger cars took the first step in electrification, with multiple SUV models realizing HEV off-road solutions through front/rear dual electric drive configurations. As for commercial vehicles, electrification has been constrained by their attribute as civilian production materials; although various technical solutions have been attempted, few commercialized models have been launched. Fortunately, the Jiefang J6P in this batch finally achieved an industry “breakthrough”, which is also the best embodiment of FAW Group’s technical accumulation in this field. It is worth noting that the partner Beijing Huading Guolian Power Battery Co., Ltd. was established in March 2017, located in the Huairou Base of Beijing General Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals in Yanqi Economic Development Zone, Huairou District, Beijing. It has cooperated with Chery, Holon and other passenger car enterprises in the early years, and recently supplied supporting products for Jiefang J6V series 6×4 hybrid tractors. According to parameter analysis, it is highly probable that the two adopted the same HEV system solution.
Foton Daimler filed for its first LNG/electric plug-in hybrid model in this batch—the Auman Galaxy 5M series BJ4259PHEVDHM-02 plug-in hybrid tractor truck. It can be optionally equipped with other family-style designs, with a seating capacity of 2/3 people and a wheelbase of 3.8 meters. It offers an optional 12-group leaf spring suspension, with LNG cylinders mounted behind the cab. It can tow trailers of 39,055-40,000kg in six specifications, matched with Foton Cummins’ 11.8L, 490-horsepower gas engine, equipped with CATL LFP power battery and Foton Daimler’s 220kW electric drive system. Previously, most LNG/electric hybrid models in the industry adopted REEV or non-plug-in energy-saving solutions, with only Dongfeng Huashen HV7 series DFD4250GLPHEV1 adopting a plug-in hybrid solution. The new model of Foton Daimler in this batch is also the second model in the industry to adopt the same technical route.
ICE Power Rebounds After Two Years; Scania NextEra 4×2 & 6×2R; Dongfeng Liuqi Accelerates Product Upgrade
By fuel type: ICE power recovered vitality in this batch, with both diesel and gas models seeing significant growth; NEV power gave up some market share accordingly, and the two resumed a balanced momentum.
Specifically:
- Tractor truck segment: 8 diesel models + 10 gas models recovered 40% of the market share, reaching the best level in the past two years; NEV penetration rate stood at 61.5%, with BEV still leading the list with 28 models, and 3 FCV models and 1 HEV model continuing the diversification of technical routes.
- Heavy-duty truck segment: Diesel new models also rebounded strongly, with corresponding new products appearing in 1-series cargo vehicles/5-series general cargo vehicles and 3-series dump trucks (6+2 models), and 7 over-limit special models concentrated, totaling 16 models, accounting for 41.0% of the market share; NEV penetration rate was a moderate 59.0%, with the main features being the emergence of diesel-electric extended-range pump truck chassis and the industry’s first non-plug-in diesel-electric hybrid off-road chassis.

Seven vehicle enterprises declared special chassis in this batch, including Dongfeng Liuqi and SAIC Hongyan, which are rarely seen. Among them, Sinotruk Taian Wuyue declared two special chassis for oilfield applications again, including the seven-axle 83-ton TAZ5836TYTA and the four-axle 48-ton TAZ5486TYTE, continuing to consolidate its leading position in the oilfield special vehicle field and setting a new GVW record for exported over-limit chassis at this stage.
Since the launch of commercialized models, the Scania Next Era series has attracted much attention. In this batch, it continued to expand its basic specification series, declaring the first 4×2 model and the European-style 6×2R model. It also offers another color scheme and logo position, forming a product portfolio with the European R series as a whole.
- SAS4181GAN001 tractor truck: Adopts a 4×2 configuration, with a seating capacity of 2 people and a wheelbase of 4,150mm (slightly longer than the European version’s 3,950mm). It is equipped with front 2-leaf spring suspension and rear air suspension, capable of towing trailers of 33.87/34/34.27 tons. It uses Scania’s TD13 series engine customized for Chinese working conditions, matched with a 12.74L, 460/500-horsepower diesel engine, with a fuel consumption of 29.4L/100km and a maximum speed of 110km/h or limited to 89km/h.
- SAS4261GCN001 tractor truck: Adopts the European-style 6×2R configuration, that is, the second/third axles use air suspension, and the third axle is only for load-bearing without driving. It can be lifted when the vehicle is unloaded to reduce tire wear and fuel consumption. This new model is specified not to tow tank vehicles, with a seating capacity of 2 people, a GVW of 26 tons and a wheelbase of 3,350mm. It is equipped with front 2-leaf spring suspension and rear air suspension, capable of towing trailers of 37.1/37.32 tons, matched with the same power scheme as the above model, with a fuel consumption of 31.9L/100km.

According to Dongfeng Liuqi’s official website, the Chenglong series is currently promoting a new generation of product lineup, including multiple platforms such as Chenglong HK, H7 Pro and H5V. At the same time, the enterprise has accelerated the declaration of relevant new products. This batch involves five new models from four lineages; besides the following two models, more will be elaborated in Part 2.
- Chenglong HK series LZ4254H7DM tractor truck: The first LNG-powered model declared, with a seating capacity of 2 people, LNG cylinders mounted behind the cab, a wheelbase of 4.7 meters, front 2/3-leaf spring suspension and rear air suspension, capable of towing trailers of 40/39.22 tons, matched with Cummins’ 14.5L, 630/580-horsepower gas engine. Among the new models of Dongfeng Liuqi, the “Dragon Armor” appearance of Chenglong HK can be described as a fully evolved version, also representing the high-end positioning.
- Chenglong H5V series LZ4253H7DM tractor truck: Adopts LNG power, with a seating capacity of 2 people, LNG cylinders mounted behind the cab, a wheelbase of 3.9 meters, optional nine-group suspension, capable of towing trailers of 40/39.57/39.22 tons, matched with Weichai’s 13.26L, 570-horsepower gas engine. The Chenglong H5V design integrates classical dragon elements with future technology; while adopting the front lamps of the Chenglong HK series, it uses a ripple grille to simulate the effect of sea waves spreading outward, with a more pleasing overall style.
FAW Trucks Eagle Series Goes Electric; Tricycle Group-Horizon Robotics’ Second Descartes Model; Beiben Heavy-Duty’s 2026 Flagship V5 Series

FAW Group declared the CA4250P25T1BEVA80 pure electric tractor truck under the Jiefang Eagle series brand for the first time in this batch, incorporating it into the Blue Path family lineup. This new model has a seating capacity of 2/3 people, with optional Jiefang JH6 appearance and flat-top/high-top structure, a wheelbase of 3.8 meters, optional ten-group leaf spring suspension, capable of towing trailers of 39.27/39.2 tons, equipped with CATL’s 400.61kWh LFP power battery (mounted behind the cab), and FAW Group’s 240kW×2 electric drive system, with a driving range of 184 kilometers. As an all-new upgraded version of Jiefang V series and JH5/6, the Jiefang Eagle series is constantly strengthening its role in Jiefang’s “Eagle” family through the strategy of “improving pain points and amplifying advantages”.
Hubei Tricycle Group, together with Horizon Robotics, declared the second cooperative model in this batch—the Haolong-Descartes DESCARTES pure electric tractor truck STQ4255L10Y8S6BEV. As a co-branded product, this new model retains the appearance of the Haolong series, and adds an optional Horizon Robotics’ proprietary style—changing the original cooling grille area to a whole piece of closed cover, forming a huge shield shape through the smoked black U-shaped color decoration on the outer edge, and adding corresponding logos to highlight product ownership. It has a seating capacity of 2/3 people, a wheelbase of 3.8 meters, optional seven-group leaf spring suspension, capable of towing trailers of 37.59-38.67 tons in six specifications, equipped with EVE Energy’s 447.399kWh LFP power battery (mounted behind the cab), Tebega’s 310kW×2 electric drive system, with a driving range of 291 kilometers. As early as Batch 387 in October 2024, Tricycle Group’s Haolong STQ4253L10Y5SBEV expanded a set of LFP power battery assembled by Chuzhou Lishen and Horizon Robotics, with an official announced power capacity of 282/423kWh, and small-batch procurement was realized by partners. The above is the core independent brand product of Horizon Robotics in the field of intelligent transportation—the Robotruck Descartes electric heavy truck, which has been put into use in Tianjin factory in August 2025. This batch marks the second cooperation and expanded cooperation between the two parties. Considering Horizon Robotics’ identity as an end-user, it is more like a customized development of “self-used products” by a large customer with “self-supplied components”, rather than a narrow-sense “new vehicle manufacturer”, so it should be treated differently. In addition, Horizon Robotics has also launched the autonomous driving bus RoboBus (JMC Jingma Jinggangshan intelligent minibus) and heavy-duty autonomous driving flatbed truck HAV simultaneously, which have been displayed and applied in small batches on various occasions.

Beiben Heavy-Duty launched its 2026 flagship V5 series at the 2026 Partner Conference held on December 23 last year, including flagship products such as flat-floor 600kWh model, ultra-fast charging model and V5M engineering version. Two related new models were also declared in this batch; although they were not declared in the same period’s vehicle and vessel tax exemption catalog (models are obviously inconsistent), the author roughly estimated the power capacity based on their main parameters. The Beiben V5 series continues to use classic cab resources; this batch has been upgraded to a closed front grille + new interior, and its market performance can be further tracked.
- Beiben V5 series ND4250BBXJ7Z18BEV pure electric tractor truck: Adopts V3 series front headlight and bumper resources, with optional flat-top/high-top cab and a seating capacity of 2 people, a wheelbase of 3.5 meters, optional three-group leaf spring suspension, capable of towing trailers of 38.57/38.27 tons, equipped with Taizhou BYD’s single-cell battery, Weichai New Energy-assembled LFP “blade battery” (mounted behind the cab), and Tebega’s 310kW×2 electric drive system. This new model is the first cooperation between Beiben Heavy-Duty and Weichai New Energy in the field of BEV power batteries; according to the curb weight of 10.3/10.6 tons, it is estimated to adopt a 400.64kWh solution (for example, applied in Shaanxi Automobile Group’s Delong M3000 series SX4257MF4Q6BEV). The latter is also striving to develop customers outside Weichai/Shandong Heavy Industry Group, and has currently provided supporting products for CHTC United Truck BEV and Henan Deli FCV tractor products in a small scope.
- Beiben V5M series engineering version ND3310DBXJ7Z16BEV pure electric dump truck chassis and complete vehicle: Adopts classic NG80 series front headlight and integrated bumper, with a seating capacity of 2 people, a wheelbase of 3.15 meters, double front 10-leaf spring suspension and rear 12-leaf spring suspension, equipped with EVE Energy or CATL’s LFP power battery (mounted behind the cab). According to the latter’s assembly model L324D06, it adopts a 400.61kWh solution, and the former also has an assembly solution with the same level of power capacity. It is matched with Suzhou Lvkong’s 550kW electric drive system. After forming a complete vehicle, the total length is 9.7/9.9 meters, the cargo box length is 5.6/5.8 meters, and the rated load is 11.77 tons.
Foton Daimler’s 800kWh Model; Century Zonwin’s “Suizhou-Made” Truck; Shenhe Xiaoman’s 4×2 Series; JAC-DeepWay Expands with Hande Axles

Foton Daimler declared an 800kWh-level “ultra-large capacity” new model in this batch—the Auman EST series pure electric tractor truck BJ4259EVDHF-28. It can be optionally equipped with Star Shine/Star Wing or Galaxy 5M/T appearance, with a seating capacity of 2/3 people, a wheelbase of 3.8 meters, optional 14-group leaf spring suspension, capable of towing trailers of 33.4-34.82 tons in six specifications, equipped with CATL’s 801.23kWh LFP power battery (mounted behind the cab + under the frame on both sides between axles), Foton Daimler’s 550kW electric drive system, with a driving range of 600 kilometers. At present, there are Sany, XCMG and Yutong Commercial Vehicles with 800kWh+ BEV tractors in the industry; Sany has a larger power capacity (Hefei Guoxuan/Ganzhou Funeng), and the driving range is mostly designed with a target of over 500 kilometers. Foton Daimler has already declared a 700.4kWh LFP “ultra-large capacity” solution equipped with EVE Energy in Batch 387 in September 2024; this batch can be described as a further step forward.
Hubei Century Zonwin declared the ZYP4180BEV2 pure electric tractor truck in this batch. It adopts the same cab resources as Hubei Qixing PW22X (also used by Suzhou King Long-Zaihe Automobile, Hebei Changzheng and other enterprises), with a seating capacity of 2 people.
