On September 17, 2024, the dazzling “feast” of the commercial vehicle industry—the 2024 Hannover International Commercial Vehicle Show (IAA)—officially kicked off. At this exhibition, China National Heavy Duty Truck (CNHTC) made a stunning appearance with the theme “Zero to Hero,” showcasing seven meticulously crafted models and demonstrating its firm commitment to green, intelligent, and efficient development.
0.286 Drag Coefficient
Breaking the Limit of Low Drag for Commercial Heavy Trucks Again

On September 16, a day before the opening, CNHTC officially unveiled its newly upgraded Yellow River hydrogen internal combustion engine tractor. With a drag coefficient of 0.286, it once again breaks the low drag limits for commercial heavy trucks, adding a stunning touch of “Chinese Sky Blue” to the exhibition.

The vehicle features a water-drop concept with a water-drop streamlined shape for the cab. The cab has a narrower front and wider rear (2150mm at the front end and 2500mm at the rear), forming the basis for ultra-low drag. The trailer design cleverly incorporates a bionic “fish-back” drag reduction concept, achieving extreme drag performance and setting a Guinness World Record for a full tank range of 4871 kilometers. In terms of intelligent updates, more than 20 active and passive drag reduction technologies, including an active air intake grille, electronic rearview mirrors, hidden door handles, and detailed fluid guidance, help achieve a drag coefficient as low as 0.286, saving 15% in energy and further pushing the limits of low drag.
7 Models
Showcasing Commitment to Green and Intelligent Development
In addition to the newly upgraded Yellow River hydrogen internal combustion engine tractor, CNHTC also displayed seven models, including the Shandeka hydrogen fuel cell tractor, HOWO Commander pure electric light truck, and Bosson pickup truck. These models cover a wide range of market segments, including heavy trucks, light trucks, new energy vehicles, and light-duty vehicles, fully showcasing CNHTC’s rich product line and strong market competitiveness.

Among them, the Shandeka electric drive axle tractor is mainly used for trunk logistics transportation, with a range of up to 450 kilometers. It uses a three-motor configuration with a power of 825 kW, a maximum output torque of 75,000 N·m, and a transmission efficiency of over 94.5%, providing powerful performance.

The CNHTC new energy Commander Pro light truck features a 100 kWh mid-mounted blade battery pack, with a 20%-80% charge time of 20 minutes. The drive system has a peak power of 140 kW, and the two-speed integrated electric drive axle achieves a 50% increase in output torque and a 10% reduction in overall energy consumption.

The Bosson pickup truck, as a new star of CNHTC, is equipped with a Weichai WP2H 2.0T diesel engine with a maximum power of 140 kW and a peak torque of 420 N·m. It also uses CNHTC’s self-developed 8AT manual-automatic transmission, featuring six major technologies that help the pickup start reliably in temperatures as low as nearly -40°C. The innovative use of dual urea spray technology effectively avoids speed and torque limits on the pickup.
Zero to Hero
From Drops of Water to Oceans

At this auto show, CNHTC participated under the theme “Zero to Hero,” symbolizing the “drop of water” element from hydrogen energy emissions. In ancient Eastern culture, water is the source of all things, representing CNHTC’s original intention and firm belief in new energy, with the power of “many rivers forming an ocean.” In the global trend towards a low-carbon and zero-carbon future, every breakthrough by CNHTC will help shape a green industry ecosystem, gathering innovative strength to surge forward.
With twenty years of dedicated work and deep understanding of the international market, CNHTC starts a new journey towards green environmental protection and technological intelligence with the sky blue theme and “drop of water” origin. At the Hannover show, on the global commercial vehicle stage, it presented a “Chinese heavy truck business card” from the great Eastern nation.
