On November 10, China’s only national-level commercial vehicle exhibition – the 2025 China International Commercial Vehicle Show (CCVS, also known as the Wuhan Auto Show) – grandly opened at the Wuhan International Expo Center. With the theme of “High-end, Intelligent, Green”, this exhibition represents the “vane” of high-quality development in China’s commercial vehicle industry. At this auto show, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Chenglong made a brilliant appearance with 6 heavyweight products, showcasing Chenglong’s fruitful achievements in recent years. Since launching the “Photosynthetic Future” new energy strategy in 2022, Chenglong has regarded new energy transformation as a key development focus. At this auto show, 3 out of Chenglong’s 6 exhibits are new energy vehicles, accounting for 50% – fully demonstrating Chenglong’s determination to pursue green and zero-carbon development. Among them, the Chenglong Yiwei 5 has attracted much attention. The model name not only inherits Chenglong’s brand characteristics and carries good meanings but also homophones with “EV” (Electric Vehicle) in English, indicating it is a pure electric vehicle – a thoughtful design.
The Chenglong Yiwei 5 is Chenglong’s first new energy heavy truck developed with a full positive orientation, built on the all-new Chenglong 4.0 platform. The front face adopts a closed design to reduce wind resistance and create a sense of the future. The entire vehicle uses an 800V ultra-high voltage platform, paired with a SiC (silicon carbide) eight-in-one controller, boasting advantages of high energy efficiency and low power consumption. Equipped with a 600kWh ultra-large battery in an under-mounted design and a megawatt-level fast charging system, it achieves a comprehensive range of 500 kilometers, with a charging time of only 30 minutes from 10% to 80% SOC. It is suitable for high-intensity, high-load working conditions such as ports and mines.
The Chenglong Yiwei 5 has made significant breakthroughs in lightweight technology. All high-voltage wiring harnesses and pipeline interfaces are dustproof and waterproof treated to prevent insulation and short-circuit issues in the later stage, greatly improving overall vehicle reliability, ensuring vehicle attendance rate, and reducing users’ maintenance costs. Overall, the Chenglong Yiwei 5 is a well-deserved “benchmark” pure electric heavy truck product.
In addition to the Yiwei 5, Chenglong also displayed the H5 pure electric single-axle truck chassis at this show. Developed based on the classic H5 series models, it inherits the reliability and efficiency advantages of the Chenglong H5 family. Adopting under-mounted battery and integrated electric drive axle technology, it features high integration and ultra-low power consumption, helping to extend the range. The battery pack is available in CATL or Guoxuan options and supports dual-gun fast charging, providing reliable support for long-distance “warehouse-to-warehouse” and “warehouse-to-store” transportation scenarios.
The Chenglong H5 pure electric single-axle product adopts a domestically pioneering “keel frame” structured cab. As the name suggests, high-strength steel supports the cab structure like a dragon’s spine, bringing extremely high passive safety for drivers and passengers. The interior adopts a high-roof flat-floor design, achieving an extremely high level of comfort.
Based on the H5 series platform, Chenglong also brought the 8×4 pure electric dump truck chassis (commonly known as “four-front and eight-rear” in Chinese). The cab height of this model is raised to create a higher ground clearance, adapting to rough roads at construction sites. An anti-drill bar is designed under the bumper to prevent cars from drilling into the chassis during accidents, complying with relevant national standards and improving safety.
The Chenglong H5 pure electric dump truck uses a 600kWh ultra-large capacity battery, delivering excellent range performance. The under-mounted battery design results in a flat rear of the cab, facilitating the installation of dump boxes, hydraulic cylinders, and other structures. It also enables a longer box length within limited space, achieving higher space utilization. Its outstanding performance and zero-emission environmental advantages make it suitable for the high-quality construction and development needs of urban and rural areas in the new era.
After looking at the pure electric products, let’s turn to traditional energy products. At this auto show, Chenglong brought three traditional energy products, with the above being the HK 6×4 tractor. In the Chenglong product family, the HK series is undoubtedly the flagship. It adopts a progressive armor grille with a strong diving sense, leaving a deep first impression on passersby. From the dragon scale appearance of the H5V to the dragon armor appearance of the HK, Chenglong’s design has always been stunning.
This Chenglong HK 6×4 tractor is equipped with a Yuchai K13 engine with a maximum horsepower of 600, matched with an Eaton AMT gearbox. The front axle wheel ends also use ConMet oil-lubricated wheel ends. With high horsepower and high efficiency, it meets the needs of high-efficiency logistics in the new era.
Now that “LNG-powered trucks” (commonly called “milk bottle trucks” in Chinese) are so popular, does Chenglong have a corresponding model? Yes, it does. At this auto show, Chenglong brought the HK LNG tractor. Equipped with a 640-horsepower Yuchai 16-liter gas engine, it takes high horsepower as its core advantage. Even in mountainous road conditions, the Chenglong HK LNG tractor can handle it with ease.
At this auto show, Chenglong also brought the H7 Pro 8×4 truck. As Chenglong’s high-end truck series, it has the advantages of ultra-high configuration and ultra-low self-weight. Moreover, the vehicle is equipped with a newly upgraded cab, featuring a fashionable appearance and spacious interior. Combined with various daily facilities, it delivers a comfortable long-distance transportation experience, making it a powerful truck product.
From the exhibition lineup at this auto show, we can see that Chenglong not only demonstrates its systematic layout and solid accumulation in the new energy track but also continues to optimize and upgrade in the traditional power field. “Create Technology, Lead Efficiency, Enjoy Trust” is by no means an empty slogan. Through practical actions, Chenglong will further drive the green, intelligent, and efficient development of China’s commercial vehicle industry with technology as the engine.
