2025 China International Commercial Vehicle Show (CCVS): Sensing the Industry’s Ups and Downs, Changes, and Future

Recently, the press briefing for the 2025 China International Commercial Vehicle Show (CCVS) was successfully held in Wuhan. The briefing was hosted by Shen Bin, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Secretary-General of Wuhan Sub-council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), while Yang Lin, Vice President of CCPIT Automotive Sub-council, introduced relevant information about the show.

Since the start of the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, China’s commercial vehicle industry has gone through a critical stage of transition from high-speed growth to high-quality development. Guided by innovation and centered on the development of new-quality productive forces, the transformation of energy structure has driven the comprehensive upgrading of the entire industry.

This year is a crucial transitional year connecting the past and the future for China’s economic development. From the production and sales data of the first 9 months, China’s commercial vehicle market has shown an overall recovery with distinct characteristics of structural growth. The sustained growth of new energy commercial vehicles and exports has kept the entire industry on a steady upward trajectory.

At the same time, it must be noted that against the backdrop of slowing demand, product structure adjustment, the transition between old and new growth drivers, and the critical stage of transformation and upgrading, the commercial vehicle industry faces severe challenges in overall profitability. Mergers, acquisitions, and the survival of the fittest have become increasingly frequent and intense; new enterprises, new products, and new business formats continue to emerge; the industrial chain has expanded and become more robust, leading to tremendous changes in the commercial vehicle industrial ecosystem.

The ups and downs of the commercial vehicle market, changes in the industrial ecosystem, and future development trends will be fully reflected at this year’s show. In addition to the continued increase in the number and proportion of new energy and intelligent products, some newly developed exhibits making their debut will bring brand-new, impactful concepts. Exhibits adapted to more segmented markets and application scenarios will offer visitors a fresher and more diversified experience. The number of special-purpose vehicle and component exhibitors has increased significantly year-on-year, with many enterprises participating for the first time, further highlighting the advantage of showcasing the entire industrial chain.

At this year’s show, intelligent products will take center stage. As trucks accelerate the shift towards mid-to-high-end development and product upgrading and replacement speed up, intelligent trucks are becoming mainstream in the market. A range of intelligent trucks, equipped with intelligent technologies focused on addressing industry pain points and difficulties, will be showcased in a concentrated manner.

The number of new energy (electric, hydrogen, hybrid, etc.) commercial vehicles on display will far exceed that of traditional fuel commercial vehicles, becoming the main exhibits of the show; electric trailers will make their first appearance.

The number of special-purpose vehicle and component exhibitors has increased significantly, with richer exhibits and higher technical level and quality. Among them, the number of new energy logistics vehicles and engineering-specific vehicles will continue to rise; new energy (battery, etc.) and intelligent technology companies will also make brilliant appearances.

Concurrent events will be more diverse. The former “Logistics and Transportation Vehicle Summit Forum” has been renamed “China Commercial Vehicle New Ecosystem Forum” and extended from half a day to a full day. The forum will cover topics such as macroeconomics, industry trends, internationalization, new energy and intelligence, commercial vehicle after-sales market, and logistics. In addition, industry organizations, media, and exhibitors will host forums, award ceremonies, technical seminars, new product launches, and promotional activities during the show. The show will continue to feature a dynamic demonstration area and a cold chain exhibition area.

Notably, the show has attracted visitor groups including manufacturers, distributors, and users from multiple countries such as Brazil, Chile, Georgia, Russia, the Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Kenya, and South Africa. These groups will attend the show and forums to gain in-depth understanding of Chinese commercial vehicle enterprises, technologies, and products.

This show will be a grand event promoting the high-quality development of the commercial vehicle industry and the cultivation of new-quality productive forces, a grand event showcasing the collaborative innovation achievements of the entire commercial vehicle industrial chain, and a grand event witnessing the commercial vehicle industry in China entering a new energy inflection point and a period of global expansion.

Held in odd-numbered years, the China International Commercial Vehicle Show (CCVS) is China’s only national-level commercial vehicle exhibition and currently the largest commercial vehicle exhibition in Asia. Supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the show is hosted by CCPIT Automotive Sub-council and co-organized by China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Automotive Test Center (Wuhan) Co., Ltd., Hanover Messe Milan (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Hubei Automobile Industry Association, Wuhan New City International Expo Center Operation and Management Co., Ltd., and Wuhan Sub-council of CCPIT.
