The First Commercial Vehicle Hydrogen – Fueled Engine in China Put into Use in Cangzhou, Hebei

Recently, a sprinkler truck equipped with Yuchai YCK05H hydrogen – fueled engine was officially put into operation in Cangzhou, Hebei. This is the first hydrogen – internal – combustion – engine vehicle in China to be put into practical – scenario operation, marking that China’s hydrogen – internal – combustion – engine industry has shifted from technical R & D to product application.

As a municipal “regular” that shuttles through the urban area frequently, urban sprinkler trucks have always had strict requirements for emissions. The YCK05H hydrogen – fueled engine developed by Yuchai specifically for urban sanitation scenarios has achieved true “zero – carbon emissions” through the transient supercharging enhancement technology of the hydrogen – specific PTO function and the high – precision air – flow management system.

The YCK05H hydrogen – fueled engine adopts a number of technologies, such as high – pressure multi – point injection, high – efficiency low – inertia turbocharging, and high – efficiency lean – burn, etc., overcoming the technical problems of hydrogen engines such as easy flashback and knock, and achieving zero – carbon emissions. Compared with fuel cells, the YCK05H hydrogen – fueled engine has a 70% lower manufacturing cost, a 50% lower use cost, and a 400% longer service life, and is mainly applied to urban buses, coaches, special – purpose vehicles and other scenarios.

On the track of hydrogen – energy application, Yuchai has built a full – spectrum hydrogen – energy solution covering vehicle – used hydrogen internal combustion engines, hydrogen – energy range extenders, hydrogen – internal – combustion – engine generator sets, and fuel cells, which is widely suitable for vehicle – used scenarios such as buses, postal services, sanitation, and cold – chain logistics, as well as the power – generation field, injecting strong kinetic energy into the country’s “double – carbon” strategy with its core technologies.
