FORVIA, a global leader in automotive technology, combining the complementary strengths of Faurecia and HELLA, will showcase its latest sustainable solutions for commercial vehicles at the 2024 IAA Transportation in Hanover, Germany, from September 17 to 22. Visitors are welcome to explore these innovations at Hall 12, Booth A30.

Patrick Koller, CEO of Faurecia, said, “As a key partner to automotive manufacturers in the profound shift towards zero-emission mobility, FORVIA remains committed to providing cutting-edge solutions that prioritize sustainability and the well-being of vehicle users. With transportation responsible for 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions, we are proud to lead the industry in reducing its environmental impact. Currently, one in three trucks and buses is equipped with our products. At the 2024 IAA Transportation, we will showcase a range of innovative technologies, including advanced seating, lighting, automotive electronics, and hydrogen storage systems, highlighting our commitment to creating a cleaner, more efficient future for mobility.”
New Eco-friendly and Comfortable Seating Solutions
As a global leader in automotive seating solutions with over 110 years of experience, FORVIA will unveil its truck seat range at the IAA Transportation, suitable for light, medium, and long-haul trucks. Compared to other solutions on the market, this series reduces CO2 emissions by up to 40%. These seats feature lightweight and unique structural designs, integrated seat belts, and advanced suspension systems, enhancing safety and comfort for truck drivers. Additionally, they are made with innovative sustainable materials such as NAFILean Vision and Ecorium. Their modular design facilitates easy maintenance, extends product lifecycle, and ensures future upgradability.
Innovative Hydrogen Storage Technology
FORVIA has developed a range of compressed hydrogen storage solutions for light and heavy commercial vehicles, as well as off-road vehicles. These systems, independent of the powertrain, are suitable for both hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2 ICE) and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), offering seamless integration, autonomy, and reliability.
Our hydrogen tanks, with diameters ranging from 300mm to 700mm, are flexible in configuration and are the first certified Type 4 XL hydrogen tanks, available in two sizes. In 2023, FORVIA delivered 11,000 hydrogen tanks to clients such as HKMC, Stellantis, and Hyvia, with manufacturing facilities in South Korea, China, and France. Additionally, FORVIA is establishing new production facilities in North America, further expanding its global footprint.
Advanced Lighting and Automotive Electronics Systems
Faurecia HELLA, a subsidiary of FORVIA, is a leader in commercial vehicle lighting and automotive electronics technology. Stefan van Dalen, General Manager of Faurecia HELLA’s Lifecycle Solutions Division, said, “Our goal is to further strengthen our commercial vehicle business and continue to meet the strategic needs of this key customer segment. We are showcasing our expertise at this leading industry trade fair and look forward to providing modular solutions that make the future of commercial vehicles safer and more sustainable.”
At the IAA Transportation, Faurecia HELLA will showcase sustainable lighting products for commercial vehicles. The latest innovations include new aerodynamic headlights and innovative roof signage concepts, offering vehicles a distinctive appearance that complements manufacturers’ latest cabin designs. The aerodynamic design also helps improve fuel efficiency.
Faurecia HELLA will also introduce a new trailer lighting system of the future. This system uses digital technology to reduce wiring, save materials (especially copper), and lower weight and CO2 emissions. Additionally, it offers new features such as automatic lighting and the ability to monitor the status of lighting modules.
Beyond lighting solutions, Faurecia HELLA will present innovative electronic concepts and sensors designed for smart energy management and enhanced cabin comfort.
Decarbonization: Achieving Net Zero by 2045
FORVIA is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2045, becoming the first automotive company to set this ambitious goal in 2022. This commitment includes two key milestones: achieving carbon neutrality for internal operations (“Scope 1” and “Scope 2”) by 2025 and reducing carbon emissions by 45% (“Scope 3”) by 2030. Thanks to accelerated progress, FORVIA reached its first interim milestone a year ahead of schedule. This achievement is driven by the integration of sustainable technologies, “Designed for Scope 3” product design, and optimized production processes.
